Walk with Jesus

Walk with Jesus Absolute surrender to God brings wonderful blessings Rom 10:15 And how can men [be expected to] preach unless they are sent?

As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings! [How welcome is the coming of those who preach the good news of His good things!]

THE FIRST GIFT
Christmas is the day we, as humans, choose to commemorate the birth of Jesus. Because no one knows the true birthday, people in history have chosen to celebrate it in December.
That is a day when we (all humans) are reminded of the importance of love, peace, and sharing. We feel joy when we love and share gifts. Even just that is already something special.
We chose to celebrate Jesus' birth, but we forgot one important fact: the day Jesus was born on earth was the first step, the first gift to us as human beings, in order for us to be saved. God sent Jesus to earth as a gift for human beings since it was also the first step in His plan to save those who accept Jesus.
That gift happened on the cross. While we celebrate Jesus' birth, we must also remember that it was the first gift in God's plan, through Jesus on the cross.
That is the greatest gift the human race could have received. It was forgiveness and grace from Jesus on the cross when he was crucified for our sins. So, sure, it is great and lovely to celebrate Christmas.
The one who would bear the entire human race's punishment on the cross in order to give us the glorious gift of grace and forgiveness.
So, have a Merry Christmas, fill your heart with joy, touch people's hearts, and bless them. Allow people to see your joy on your face, in your body language, and in the way you live, and that is the gift we humans must give to the rest of the world this Christmas.
Let us remember that Christmas is not just about the material gifts we exchange but also about spreading love and kindness to others.
By sharing our joy and living a life filled with grace and forgiveness, we can inspire others to do the same and make this world a better place.
So, let us embrace the true spirit of Christmas and be a blessing to those around us.
Blessing, My Friend

Don’t Forget to Invite the Honored Guest
Written by Sharon Jaynes
Today’s Truth
Luke 2 19
But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart
Every year, I search for Christmas poems, stories, and traditions that stir my soul and keep my focus on Jesus. Perhaps none has tugged my heartstrings like the treasure I am sharing with you today. It is a letter that could have been written by Mary. Join me now and let’s peek over Joseph’s shoulder as he reads this letter from his beloved.
I had a dream, Joseph. And I don’t understand it, not really. But I think it was about a birthday celebration for our Son. Well, I think that’s what it was about. People had been preparing for about six weeks. They had decorated their house, bought new clothes, gone shopping many times, and bought elaborate gifts. But it was peculiar though because you see, the gifts weren’t for our Son. They wrapped them in beautiful paper and tied them with lovely bows and stacked them under a tree. Yes! A tree, Joseph, right in their house. They decorated a tree.
The branches were full of glowing balls and sparkling ornaments. And there was a figure on top of the tree that looked something like what an angel might look like. Oh, it was so beautiful. Everyone was laughing and happy and all excited about the gifts. They gave gifts to each other, Joseph, not to our Son. I don’t even think they knew Him. They never mentioned His name. Doesn’t it seem odd for people to go to all that trouble to celebrate somebody’s birthday when they don’t even know Him? I had the strangest feeling that if our Son had gone to this celebration, He would have been intruding.
Everything was beautiful, Joseph. Everyone was full of cheer. But it made me want to cry. How sad for Jesus, not to be wanted at His own birthday celebration. I’m glad that it was only a dream. What if it were true?
What if it had been true? This story pierced my heart because in my home growing up, it was true. My childhood was a cauldron of violent arguments, alcohol inflamed fights, and long passages of passive-aggressive silence. My parents were a mess, and their children were even messier.
Amazingly, the tension ratcheted up a notch at Christmas. Dad’s business associates gave him liquor in ornate bottles alcohol that fueled his volatile anger. My mom went into a stressful frenzy to have a perfectly decorated home with mounds of gifts under the tree. I dreaded December…every year.

On Christmas morning, I tore into elegantly wrapped presents. Right now, I can’t even recall what five of them were.
What I really wanted was a little bit of that “Peace on Earth” we sang about in church. I longed for Emmanuel to bring some of that “Silent Night” into my chaotic life. I longed for a mommy and daddy who loved each other. What I didn’t care about was more stuff.
And then I had a child of my own. I held that squirmy bundle of love in my arms and made a commitment to keep Jesus the center of our home. That decision included keeping Christmas from becoming a stress-filled retail event and making sure it was a love-filled Christ-centered celebration.
Today’s Truth says, “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2 19 NIV). What were her treasures? A child in her arms. A shepherd’s visit. An angel’s proclamation. A deep-seated heart of gratitude. A promise made true.
These are treasures of Christmas. Jesus’ birthday is a reason to celebrate every day. This year let’s make sure to invite the honored guest to His birthday celebration.
Let’s Pray
Precious Jesus, forgive me for getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and forgetting why I’m doing this in the first place. Help me rein in the retail frenzy and keep You the focus of the holiday season. I can’t wait to honor You in my home this Christmas Day. In Your Name I pray, Amen.

Just What You’ve Always Wanted
Written by Sharon Jaynes

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full

Yard sales. I’ve never really liked them. But when we were preparing to move from our home of twenty years, we decided it was the best way to clean out the clutter and make a little money.

We displayed our lovely attic décor on makeshift plywood tables and waited for the bargain babes to descend. Two hours before the advertised opening time, treasure hunters began congregating outside the closed garage doors. Then, the doors rose, and the swarm attacked.

Among the valuables from my past sat an electric, ceramic 12” Christmas tree with various colored lights…no doubt a gift from the eighties. One woman perused the lovely display and came upon this “magnificent work of art.”
“I’ve always wanted one of these!” she declared with excitement in her voice. “How much is it?”

“Three dollars,” my husband, Steve, answered.

“Humph,” she grunted and walked on.

Steve and I just looked at each other and stifled our laughter.

Let’s rewind the scene for a moment. This woman said she had always wanted a ceramic Christmas tree just like that one. (I’m not here to judge another person’s dreams. That’s just what she said.) Always. Her whole life. And here it was! For a mere $3, her dream could have come true! The search over! Most likely we would have sacrificed this masterpiece for $2, but she didn’t even ask. She just shrugged and walked away.

As I watched the woman walk away, I thought about the Pharisees in the Bible. For years they waited for the coming of the promised Messiah. Prayed about it. Preached about it. Prepared for it.

Then when Jesus showed up on that starry night in Bethlehem, they turned their backs and walked away. Humph,” they said with a shrug. “No thanks.”

But am I much different? Maybe not about yard sale treasures or Jesus, but other desires?

How many times do we long for a particular dream to come true in our lives? Search for it. Obsess over it. A husband. A child. A job. A home.

Then one day, there it is! It can be ours! The search is over. We say our “I do’s,” bring home the bundle of joy, log in our first eight hours, hang the last curtain.

But then, a little time passes. The husband is not as romantic as we had hoped, the kids are not as obedient as we had imagined, the job isn’t as rewarding as we had envisioned, and the house is a never-ending maze of maintenance.

“Humph,” we grumble. We thought we wanted something, and then when we got it, we decided we really didn’t want it after all.

Let me take it one step further. How many times do we long for love, joy, and peace in our lives? We search for it, long for it, and pray about it. Then someone points us to, not a ceramic Christmas tree, but the rugged cross and says, “There it is. It can be yours for the asking. It’s not even $3, $2 or $1. It’s free!”

Jesus said, “I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full” He’s what we’ve been looking for! Nothing satisfies the soul like what Jesus supplies for me.

There’s no Christmas gift, no relationship, no perfect celebration that is going to satisfy the soul in the long run. It’s only a personal, intimate relationship with Jesus. Dear friend, God is holding out His Holy hand with the most magnificent gift of all time. Love, joy, and peace personified in His Son, Jesus Christ. He is what you have always been longing for, searching for, watching for. The joy you’ve wanted all your life.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for making all my dreams come true. You have given me everything I have ever longed for in the person of Jesus Christ. Please forgive me for turning my back on Your amazing Gift and trying to fill my longings with people and possessions. I know that nothing will ever satisfy my desire for peace, love, and joy except Jesus. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

A Prayer for God to Be with Us
Written By Tiffany Thibault
Matthew 1: 23
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
I love to read the scriptures and hear them read by others aloud. The precious words bring peace to my heart and encourage my faith with its truth. In the midst of all the sights and sounds of this Christmas season and the extra busyness that this time of year brings into our already full lives, it is so easy to gloss over the powerful words found in this Bible verse. There are two significant things that we see in this verse.
First, we see a miracle. “A virgin will bear a child.” This incredible sentence shows just how much God truly loves us. He could have easily sent Jesus into this world as a warrior fighting for injustice, or as a powerful leader who would change the world with His government. Instead, He sent a precious little child to an u***d young mother, into a poor community that was oppressed by the Roman government. None of this is at all how you and I may have planned for the Savior of the world to make His grand entrance. Yet God, in all His power, chose to send a little baby, why? Because His plans are always better than ours.
The second incredible thing that we see in this verse is these words: “they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, “God with us.”
His very name, Immanuel, has a promise for us. The meaning of His name is powerful in just those three words: “God with us.” Those words should bring comfort to us through their incredible clarity. God is with us. God is with you. God is with you at all times, in all circumstances, in all your high and low moments. God is with you in all your tears and in all your joys.
Jesus, the Savior of the world, came as an infant, grew to be a man, died on the cross for our sins, conquered death through His resurrection, and will one day return. So, this promise God is with you covers every detail and every little nuance of your life. You can go into this Christmas season comforted with these words. You can begin a fresh new year clinging to this promise. God is with you through your todays, and He will be with you as you go into all of your tomorrows. God is with us. This is the reason we can joyfully celebrate that baby born so long ago who came to change the world in His perfect way.
Let’s pray:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for being with me in every moment of my life. Thank you that I never have to be alone because You, God love me so much that You are here with me always. May each moment of my day be filled with that life-strengthening truth. I love You, Lord. In your name, I pray.

Isa 54:17 But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.
