About 150 shacks burned down and about 230 people were affected by the fire

The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department responded to multiple shacks on fire in Panorama Road in Olievenhoutbosch on the morning of 8 September 2024.

The multiple shacks fire was reported to the City of Tshwane Emergency Call Centre at about 01:17. The centre immediately dispatched a fire truck from Heuweloord Fire Station to the scene.

The firefighters could see smoke from a distance, and they immediately requested backup. The Emergency Call Centre then dispatched multiple additional firefighting resources from Centurion Fire Station, Hazelwood Fire Station, Central Fire Station, Philip Nel Park, Jabulani Fire Station, and Atteridgeville Fire Station to the scene as backup. These included a fire truck, a bush pumper, a mobile command unit, two water tankers, and a district commander’s unit.

Firefighters saved numerous shacks from being destroyed by the fire, which was extinguished at about 09:17. About 150 shacks burned down and about 230 people were affected by the fire.

One patient was treated on site for minor burn injuries.

"Our Disaster Risk Management officials are working with various stakeholders and private entities to provide assistance for those affected by the fire.

"Nearby churches and other non-governmental organizations, in collaboration with the Emergency Services Department and other departments, have offered items such as food and alternative shelter to the affected people," said City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department acting spokesperson, Lindsay Zwelithini Mnguni.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Mnguni urged members of the public to be cautious to ensure the safety and well-being of people, animals and property by observing the following precautionary measures:

β€’ If there is any fire danger to dwellings, such as shacks or houses, or vegetation or veld fires, call the toll-fre

Four children aged between four and six years old passed away due to food poisoning in two separate incidents in Pretoria and Vosloorus on Thursday night. More than 200 cases of food poisoning involving children, resulting in 10 deaths, have been reported since February.

In the first incident two brothers, aged 4 and 6, died from food poisoning in Pretoria after sharing pap and soup at home.

According to the Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) spokesperson Motalatale Modiba, this tragic incident happened Thursday evening.

β€œTwo boys who are siblings died after they suffered from a suspected foodborne illness. They had shared a common meal (pap and soup) at home.

β€œThe four-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Tshwane while his brother, the six-year-old, was unresponsive, foaming through the mouth and nostrils and eventually succumbed to the illness.”

He said another three-year-old boy who is a cousin to the two and was brought to the hospital with them, did not show any signs of poisoning and was discharged after observation. He did not consume the same food as the other two boys.

β€œThe GDoH calls on parents and caregivers to exercise extreme caution to ensure the safety of their children.

β€œThis comes after the surge in the number of food poisoning cases affecting children, particularly in townships, informal settlements, and hostels communities.”

Modiba said on the same night, in a separate incident, three children aged 3, 5, and 6 years from Vosloorus were brought to Jabulani Dumane CHC, presenting with symptoms of vomiting and body

South Africa’s liberation movement, the ANC, is announcing the coalition partnership that it has chosen today at 6PM.

Anyone who cares about South Africa should accept that the ANC should form a grand coalition government with the DA and many other parties so that it becomes everyone’s responsibility to govern and take ownership of actions taken and implemented.

Those who don’t want to be part of that government should be allowed to go to the opposition benches and oppose from there!

South Africa is Africa’s only genuine and unquestionable electoral democracy where elections are won and lost without the state apparatus being abused, as happens in countries like Zimbabwe.

The ANC must be applauded for accepting that it didn’t get a full mandate to govern and must be also applauded for willing to work with others regardless of its dominant liberation history. It is worth applauding this once again because it is important for South Africa’s future. πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏ

The choices made by both the South African National Congress and the rest of the political parties elected to parliament must be based on national interest and the survival of the South African economy and democracy, not on wild and irresponsible rhetoric.

The biggest party in South Africa today is the ANC, followed by the DA.
That is what South Africans voted for, and logically, those two parties must govern together, including the other smaller parties.
They should do this if they care about South Africa and not push for one group of people to be disenfranchised through extremism.

The key issues to tackle in the next five years for South Africa are corruption, the economy, democracy, and political tolerance.
These can only be addressed if all South Africans come together to govern their country, irrespective of ethnic, racial, or political disagreements!

Those who care about South Africa and its future should support a grand coalition government that includes everyone if that is what is

BREAKING NEWS - Z**I KODWA RESIGNS

The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Z**i Kodwa has stepped down from his position.

This is following his court appearance at the Palm Ridge on R1.6 million corruption allegations, where he was granted R30 000 bail.

The State Capture Commission accused Kodwa of receiving bribes from businessman Jehan Mackay in exchange for government tenders.

According to the ministry in a statement, Kodwa’s resignation is with immediate effect.

β€œMr Z**i Kodwa, MP, announces his immediate resignation as Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture. This comes as Mr Kodwa challenges the charges against him, which he strongly denies. Mr Kodwa has informed the President that he will resign as Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture and Member of Cabinet, after being formally charged.

β€œMr Kodwa expresses his sincere appreciation to the President and the governing party for the opportunity to serve the nation. He also takes the opportunity to express thanks to all the staff at the Ministry and Department of Sport, Arts and Culture for the opportunity to serve with them, and to all stakeholders in Sport, Arts and Culture, with whom he has worked so well with, as Minister,” the statement read.
