NEWS: A 21-year-old man arrested after a body of Pick n Pay Franchise co-owner was found in the boot of her stolen Range Rover.

Reneé Lea, co-owner of the Pick n Pay Family franchise and a resident of Standerton, was found murdered on August 24 in Tshwane, just hours after being reported missing.

The investigation took a tragic turn when Gauteng police in Tshwane arrested a 21-year-old male suspect driving Lea’s stolen Range Rover. During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered Lea’s body in the boot, covered with a carpet believed to be missing from her home.

Captain Braam Robberts, the police spokesperson, confirmed that evidence indicates Lea was overpowered at her home and forcibly removed. CCTV footage showed her vehicle leaving Standerton at 20:11, suggesting she was abducted around that time. Another road camera recorded the vehicle heading away from Standerton at 20:30.
Additionally, police found three fi****ms in the vehicle, including one replica, as well as laptops, cash, and Lea’s cellphone.

Captain Robberts highlighted the coordinated efforts between various police units and Kasselman Security that led to the suspect’s swift apprehension and the recovery of critical evidence.

The suspect faces multiple charges, including murder, kidnapping, possession of unlicensed fi****ms, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of suspected stolen property. He is scheduled to appear in Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, August 26, 2024.

Three men were arrested shortly after they were pulled over with sheep in a minibus taxi near Villiers. The collective efforts of the police, farmers and private security have played a significant role in this success.

On 14 August 2024 at about 05:30, police received information about a suspicious minibus taxi possibly involved in stock theft in the area. Members promptly operationalised the information and spotted the vehicle on the N3 highway.

The suspects will appear in the Villiers Magistrate's Court on 15 August 2024 on charges of attempted murder and possession of stolen property.

20-Year old Assailant shot dead.

The Shooter who attempted to take the life of President Trump Saturday afternoon at an outdoor rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. The information was released by the FBI.

Following the attack, the assailant was shot dead by Secret Service agents and recovered an AR-style rifle he used.

According to witnesses, the attacker was stationed on the roof of a manufacturing plant that was more than 130 yards away from the stage where Donald Trump was addressing the public at Butler Farm Show grounds.

The Drudge Report posted an interview with a BBC Reporter who said he, along with other witnesses saw the shooter and turned their attention to local Police and Secret Service agents to tell them about the shooter. He said they kept yelling and calling out the agents about the Shooter as he crawled on the roof and found a spot to shoot from. After the shooting, the witnesses directed law enforcement to the shooter. Shortly thereafter, a Secret Service agent shot Crooks on the head.

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. president, was seen being helped off stage with thin streaks of blood on his face by U.S. Secret Service members after shots were fired while he was onstage at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

The Trump campaign said in a statement on Saturday evening that Trump was "fine" and that he is "being checked out at a local medical facility." Donald Trump Jr. also told ABC News that his father is "in good spirits" as he remains under medical observation.

A suspected gunman and one audience member are dead, the AP reported, citing Butler County district attorney Richard Goldinger. Another spectator is in a serious condition.

President Joe Biden denounced the violence during remarks on Saturday night and said in a statement earlier that he's "grateful" Trump is safe.

Trump and Biden are locked in a close election rematch, with most opinion polls showing the two evenly matched. Trump is due to officially receive the Republican nomination at the Republican National Convention that kicks off in Milwaukee on Monday.

Three police officers arrested following a robbery of a victim at an Engen garage in Welkom, Free State.
In pictures that are seen circulating on social media platforms, two men and a woman are seen wearing SAPS bullet proof vests and an SAPS mask. A white polo sedan which was allegedly used by the members can also be seen with flashing blue lights.

The suspects were traced to Gauteng where they were arrested by the Welkom Serious and Violent crime unit and the Gauteng Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Investigations unit (FCS) on Saturday, 13 July 2024.

A Preliminary investigation has revealed that on the said date, the trio, two Constable’s and a Sergeant pulled over a vehicle and ordered the man to step out. The man refused and drove to the nearest filling station where the members followed him.

It was during that period when the police officers allegedly grabbed the victims cellphone and sped off.

While General Masemola has condemned the behaviour of these members, he has welcomed the arrests of our own.

“We condemn this behaviour and don’t condone acts of criminality and corruption within our ranks. We will continue to deal decisively with those who do not abide by the SAPS code of conduct without fear or favour,”, said General Masemola .

A 49-year-old Portuguese businessman is the latest victim to be rescued by the SAPS anti-kidnapping task team together with other law enforcement agencies and private security who have been working around the clock to find the businessman, safe and unharmed. The man was kidnapped from his business premises in Florida on 24 June 2024.

On Monday evening, 01 July 2024, the team traced the victim to a home in Snake Park, Soweto where he had been in captivity. On the same evening, members also arrested one of his captors in Turfontein, Johannesburg.

The 39-year-old suspect is believed to belong to a syndicate that is responsible for at least four other kidnappings where businessmen were the target in the Johannesburg District. The team is currently tracing suspects who were working together with the man.

- In the last six months, 12 businessmen and six students who had been kidnapped for ransom, have been rescued by a multidisciplinary team led by the South African Police Service (SAPS) anti-kidnapping task team.

- In cases where the businessmen and students had been rescued, no ransom payment was made as a direct result of the expertise and capabilities of SAPS detectives, the crime intelligence unit and collaboration with private security.

- From January 2024 to date, 49 kidnappers who had demanded ransom payment from families of victims have been arrested in Gauteng, North West and the Free State.

- 21 vehicles used in the commission of these crimes have been confiscated and 8 fi****ms have also been seized.

The SAPS is confident that working together with all stakeholders and community tip-offs, it will continue to takedown more syndicates believed to be behind a spate of kidnappings for ransom across the country.

A 40-year-old suspect was arrested at Lebombo Border Port of entry on Friday, 21 June 2024, driving a white Volkswagen bus trying to cross the border. The vehicle was stopped and searched. During the search, counterfeit goods (sneakers, clothes and cosmetics) with an estimated street value of R 800 000-00, transported from Mozambique into the Republic of South Africa without valid permit, were seized.

Meanwhile the team was still busy, a white Toyata Quantum minibus with venter trailer was also stopped and searched. During the search counterfeit goods (sneakers and clothes) with an estimated street value of R500 000-00, transported from Mozambique into the Republic of South Africa were also seized. A 34-year-old suspect was also arrested and charged for Contravening the provisions of Section 83(a) & (b) of the Customs and Excise Act, Act 91 of 1964.

SHEBESHXT DAUGHTER ONTHATILE CHUENE LAID TO REST

Mourners gathered this morning in Lebowakgomo Zone A, South Africa to bid farewell to 9-year-old Onthatile Chuene, who tragically passed away in a car accident on June 8, 2024.

Onthatile's father, Lehlohonolo Chauke, known as Shebeshxt, who was also injured in the accident, was in attendance, surrounded by loved ones.

Onthatile, a Grade 3 learner at Northern Academy, was remembered for her bright smile and infectious enthusiasm.
