A woman(52), was remanded in custody by the Calcutta Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 January 2024, after she was arrested by the Hawks’ Nelspruit based Serious Organised Crime Investigation , Calcutta SAPS, Combined Private Investigations (CPI) for possession of suspected stolen property (Eskom cables) and Transnet tarpaulin.

It is reported that on Monday, 29 January 2024 at approximately 08:00, information was received from Combined Private Investigations (CPI) regarding a house in Mkhuhlu whereby copper cables were kept and to be transported late at night. The team followed up the information and proceeded to the said address.

On arrival, the owner of the house was not at home. Upon her arrival, she was informed about a search warrant. She granted the team permission to search the premises. During the search, aluminium cables, suspected to be from Eskom, were found on the premises covered by tarpaulin belonging to Transnet. More rolls of aluminium cables were found next to the house covered by tarpaulin.

An Eskom member was summoned to the crime scene and he identified the cables as Eskom property. A Fidelity Guard Investigator also identified the black tarpaulin as Transnet property. A large number of aluminium pots were also found in the house and outside the room, suspected to have been manufactured for melting the stolen cables.

The house owner was arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property (Eskom cables). The suspect appeared before the Calcutta Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 January 2024, and the case was postponed to Thursday, 01 February 2024 for formal bail application.

Investigation continues.

Four Vehicles Set Alight, Calcutta:

On Wednesday the 24 of January, four vehicles were reportedly set alight inside the victim's yard at Oakley, Soweto Trust in Calcutta under Bushbuckridge local municipality in Mpumalanga just after midnight.

Recently, similar incidents were experienced in the same area of Calcutta whereby two mini busses were torched at two separate places around Calcutta. One was set alight on 06 January 2024 whilst another was burnt on 17 January 2024.The police want to bring an end to this shenanigans at the area.

The police are appealing to the public to help them find the culprits.Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators can call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or send information via the My SAPS App.

Mother Who Dumped Her New Born Baby Arrested:

The 40 years old mother who dumped her new born baby at Ronaldsy village under Bushbuckridge local municipality has been arrested.She was arrested at Matikwane hospital in Mkhuhlu near Hazyview.The new born baby boy was found by church members dumped in a pit toilet at their church on Sunday morning.The baby was rescued alive by a local builder after he removed foundation bricks to get access to the pit.

The new born baby boy still with umbilical cord covered with faeces was rescued alive.A search by Calcutta police together with the help of the public was launched and led to the arrest of the 40 years old mother at the hospital who the Mapulaneng news has her pictures but cannot publish before she appears at a court of law.She will appear at the Mkhuhlu magistrate court this morning the 18 of October.The community has been shocked to discover that the mother who they thought was a teenager is 40 years old.

A female voice note circulating on WhatsApp saying a green mamber snake found at Tintswalo spar (Acornhoek) that bitten a woman on her finger while was trying to get a fresh cabbage inside the container (wooden container) is a fake.
Acorn-flag went to spar and investigate this matters without them knowing, the employee s and the securities were interviewed and were open to talk about, and they all confirmed that there were no such incident happened in the shop.

If it was that case, the shop would have been closed with immediate effect and the authorities who deal with such dangerous species would have been called to come and resque the snake.

Woman from Bushbuckridge arrested for dumping baby in pit toilet.

A 23 year old mother of three from Bushbuckridge has been arrested for attempted murder. This after she visited her new boyfriend from Mkhuhlu (Mantangaleni)and secretly gave birth to a baby boy at the man's pit toilet during the night and dumped the baby inside.

Upon realising this, the guy called police and emergency services and the baby was found alive inside the toilet. The suspect is expected to appear before the Calcutta Magistrates Court soon .

Taxi driver shot dead at Oakley, two in hospital

Police in Mpumalanga are looking for the killer of a taxi driver, identified as Mr July Shabangu (41) who was shot and later succumbed to his injuries tat Matikwana hospital yesterday. Two other taxi operators were shot but only sustained some injuries whilst a member of the public sustained some injuries after being shot as well during this incident. Windows and tyres of about 15 mini busses were reportedly damaged during the incident. The 16th minibus was torched in the evening of the said day.

According to the information, there were some disputes between members of Taxi Associations in the area which turned violent and led to the alleged crossfire amongst taxi operators. Unfortunately a life has already been lost whilst others survived the shooting, with scores of kombis damaged. The matter was elevated to the Police in Calcutta after the death of the taxi driver in hospital. The investigators are probing a case of murder with three counts of attempted murder and malicious damage to property . It is further alleged that several shots were shot at the house of the taxi operator with one shot damaging a bedroom window. Fortunately there was no loss of life during the incident. No one has been arrested with regard to this incident however police are continuing with their investigation.

ACORNHOEK-Two suspects were beaten to death in alleged mob justice at Matsikitsane, Acornhoek on Sunday afternoon.

It is alleged that the suspects were found in possession of stolen goods such as laptops, groceries and clothes that were stolen during housebreaking including schools around the Acornhoek areas.

The suspects were reportedly stoned to death for alleged involvement in terrorising the community.

They suffered injuries all over their bodies and were certified dead on the scene.

Police say the deceased was assaulted with different kinds of objects. A murder case has been opened

TOURIST MURDER UPDATE | 7 Nov 22

The man accused of murdering a German tourist near the Numbi Gate of the Kruger National Park has been denied bail.

The Kabokweni Magistrates court stated that there are no exceptional circumstances which could have persuaded it to grant 35 year old Joseph Nyalunga bail.

The matter has been postponed to the 24th of January 2023 for further police investigations.
