Former Banyana Banyana star Portia Modise faced a harrowing ordeal when her beloved blue VW Golf was hijacked at her home in White City, Soweto. The incident unfolded just as she was about to drive into her property, turning a routine evening into a nightmare.
Modise, known for her exceptional skills on the soccer field and her inspirational journey in women's football, was visibly shaken as she recounted the traumatic experience. "I'm not okay, guys. I need your help to get my car back," she said, her voice trembling with emotion.
According to Modise, the hijacking occurred in the blink of an eye. As she approached her driveway, a group of young men, armed and menacing, surrounded her car. "Please, guys, I didn’t sleep at all. My car was taken by young Zulu guys who pointed firearms at me," she added, her eyes brimming with tears.
The teary-eyed ex-footballer described the moments of terror as the hijackers forcefully took her vehicle. The memory of the firearms pointed at her was fresh, and the shock of the encounter left her feeling vulnerable and distressed.
The community of White City, Soweto, and fans of Modise rallied around her, sharing messages of support and sympathy. Many expressed their outrage at the brazen act and their determination to help Modise recover her car. Social media was abuzz with calls for assistance, with people sharing details of the stolen blue VW Golf in hopes of spotting it and bringing it back to its rightful owner.
Modise, who has always been a symbol of resilience and strength, now found herself in need of the community's support. "I just want my car back. It means a lot to me," she said, her voice a mixture of plea and determination.
As the search for her car continues, Modise's ordeal serves as a stark reminder of the challenges many face in their daily lives. Her courage in speaking out about the hijacking highlights the importance of community solidarity in times of distress. Fans and friends remain hopeful that Modise

Goalkeeper Under Scrutiny: Betting Allegations Cast Shadow Over Career
🇿🇦Goalkeeper Under Scrutiny: Betting Allegations Cast Shadow Over Career
By Southern Africa Football News Reporter
The football world is reeling as news breaks that Orlando Pirates Shot-stopper, is under investigation for alleged involvement in betting activities, after a video of their goalkeeper Sipho Chaine, insinuating he was about to place a bet, surfaced on social media this week.
In the viral video apparently taken from within the Pirates dressing room, someone is heard in the background saying, "Sipho I want you to bet now" and Sipho replied by saying "straight win 600". The goalkeeper further said he was going to bet on only two teams with one of them being last Sunday's epic English Premiership match between Manchester United and Arsenal, the second match is not known, raising concerns about potential match-fixing and spot-fixing. While no official charges have been filed, the football community is abuzz with speculation and concern.
Sipho’s impressive form between the sticks has earned him a reputation as one of the league's top Shots-Stoppers, but this news has cast a dark shadow over his career. His club, Orlando Pirates FC, has released a statement expressing their commitment to fair play and announcing an internal investigation into the matter.
As the football world waits with bated breath for the outcome of the investigation, fans and pundits alike are left wondering how this could have happened. Has the pressure to perform led Sipho down a dangerous path? Or is this simply a case of misguided judgment?
One thing is certain – the integrity of the beautiful game must be protected at all costs. If found guilty, Sipho will likely face severe consequences, including a potential lifetime ban from the sport. As the investigation unfolds, we can only hope that justice is served, and the sport we love remains untainted.
