Pieter Toerien Productions with Cape Town Opera presents the world’s most loved musical, Lerner & Loewe’s musical masterpiece, MY FAIR LADY.

The coveted role of Eliza Doolittle will be shared by Brittany Smith and Leah Mari. Henry Higgins will be played by Craig Urbani.

Beverley Brommert spoke to choreographer, Kirsten Isenberg, about the intricate process of creating a new ballet from scratch.

Isenberg’s Reverie will form part of three new ballets that make up Cape Ballet Africa’s inaugural season SALT, which will be showcased at the Baxter Theatre from 21 to 28 September 2024.

Isenberg describes Reverie as an abstract, emotional odyssey. It is a meditative and reflective study. Swathed in a palette of blush pink, it is delirious fanciful musings, in a dreamy state.

PIECES OF ME, written and performed by Bo Petersen along with accompanist Christopher Petersen, under direction of Royston Stoffels, is currently onstage at the Baxter Theatre.

The play invites audiences on a journey with Petersen, as she explores her family history, an exploration that eventually led to a discovery that her father lived most of his life as a chameleon, hiding his heritage.

It is an autobiographical play rooted in Petersen’s search for truth and identity through the unpacking of secrets forced onto her family. It reveals how apartheid robbed her broader family of a sense of togetherness so many others take for granted.

Local theatregoers are in for a treat when Sue and Caroline’s Pick of the Fringe comes to Cape Town hot off the National Arts Festival Makhanda.

The The Drama Factory (Somerset West) and Theatre Arts (Observatory) are presenting two shows that were performed at this year’s Festival.

MONIKA, I’TS ME will be performed at The Drama Factory from 23 to 25 July. It will be presented at Theatre Arts from 26 to 28 July.

THE AGENTS will be presented at The Drama Factory from 22 to 24 August and at Theatre Arts from 19 to 25 August.
