After a four-year hiatus, Joff and the Cults have resurfaced from the shadows with a six-track EP, ‘Cobblestone Road’. The trio— Steven Joff Carter on vocals and electric guitar, James Collins on bass, and Tom Collins on drums—have crafted something truly special.

We’d like to take a moment to celebrate one of our talented team members, Luke Hubbard.

Luke is a kind and gentle soul with a deep passion for audio engineering. He started as an intern during his final year at SAE Institute South Africa, and after graduating in late 2023, he joined us part-time for further training. By January 2024, he transitioned to a full-time role, where he’s been making his mark on various music and post-production projects, including mixing the Showmax series, Wyfie.

During his time at SAE, Luke’s hard work and dedication achieved him the following:

• Graduated with a BA in Sound Production (Class of 2024)
• Awarded Top Student across all BA programs at SAE
• Awarded Top Student in BA Sound Production
• Awarded Top Student in Audio Post Production

Here's a glimpse of how the production of some new Caturra tracks looked like. ✨

We spent a weekend together on a farm in Tulbagh (their hometown) to prepare all the music and production before going into studio.

This has been such a wonderful process. We just wrapped up the mixing this week and they're ready for mastering! We can't wait to share. ☺️

Storytime, well, the start of it: March-April marks a very special time for Sonic Nursery. This time last year, Sonic Nursery had reached the end of its building phase in preparation for its big opening day on 3 April. It was a nervous but incredibly exhilarating time; the excitement most certainly overpowered the fear!

In March ‘23 we already had our first 'test' session in the space with my good friend Kayla The Crow to record her wonderful single 'Arrive'.

Since then we've recorded countless albums, EPs, singles, voice-overs and podcasts! We couldn't be more stoked and humbled by all the incredible artists & people that we've had the privilege to work with and meet. 🥰

To celebrate the studios 1 year birthday (3 April), I will share a few special highlights from the last year. We will also announce a special surprise real soon x

Introducing the newest addition to Sonic Nursery: Studio B! 🎙️ 🔴

Studio B is a slightly smaller, cozy, warm, and intimate creative space that’s perfect for voice-overs, podcasting, post-production, and smaller musical projects.

Since its opening in January, we’ve already recorded many exciting projects in this space that we can’t wait to share. ✨

Studio B shares a live room with Studio A, and it will be linked to our isolation booth too.

Additionally, Studio B can serve as an extra live room for Studio A for bigger projects!

Studio B is mostly operated by our new assistant/junior engineer, Luke Hubbard - who I will introduce in a separate post soon.
