"COVID-19 IS STILL WITH US" - National Department Of Health

The National Department of Health in South Africa says COVID-19 is still circulating in communites. This is according to recent information published on the department's social media platforms.

The social media post read: "COVID-19 is still circulating in communities in South Africa. We still have cases and deaths due to . Let's continue and getting our ".

This is in relation to the new variant (XBB.1.5) which has been making waves in the media space. In a recent interview with eNCA news, health expert Aslam Dasoo said that this new sub-variant has had alot of hype around it and a lot of information has been published about it, however too much information can be as bad as small amount of information.

He further said: "I think what the experts have been saying about it in South Africa has been pretty consistent. This sub-variant is omicron variant in full, with a few new tweaks to it's genetics, which makes it to be a bit more transmissible".

The public is edged to not panic about the new variant, and so far according to information from various media outlets extreme measures such as another lockdown and compulsory wearing of masks will not be considered as a way to keep the nation safe.

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) approved an 18.65% increase in electricity costs for the year 2023/24. With the increase for 2024/25 being at 12.74%.

Speaking at the media briefing, NERSA CEO, Advocate Nomalanga Sithole said, "it is also important to indicate that the decision has been taken against the backdrop of difficult conditions such as slow economic growth, job losses, loadshedding and high cost of living."

Eskom submitted the application on the 22nd of June 2021 with the updated version submitted on the 14th of September 2022. According to the Chairperson of NERSA Mr Thembani Bukula said comment from the public was taken into consideration when making this decision.

LET US HELP YOU WITH ONLINE SERVICES!

The youth of 1976 fought against racism, apartheid and the use of Afrikaans as a language of learning and teaching. The youth of 2023 on the other hand is fighting against high unemployment rate, high data costs and high statistics of substance abuse and crime.

Be part of the fight by attending , the first ever event of it's kind. Application Fever which will be taking place at Bophelong Business Hub on Saturday the 14th of January 2023. It is an event aimed at assisting the community with various online services.

The cost of data in South Africa has been an ongoing struggle for many years now. Even President Cyril Ramaphosa has acknowledged that they are aware of such a problem and in his 2019 State Of The Nation Address he said: "Wherever we have gone young people have continuously raised the issue of the excessive high data costs in South Africa."

The Application Fever event will be an opportunity for one to receive online services such as online job applications, NSFAS applications, late tertiary applications, SARS E-filing, learners and license applications as well as online shopping assistance among other things from as little as R10.

According to the latest statistics from Stats SA, "Youth aged 15 - 24 years and 25 - 34 years, recorded the highest unemployment rates of 59.6% & 40.5% respectively, education or training in the 3rd quarter of 2022".

It is therefore an opportunity for the young person who resides in Bophelong and surrounding areas to stand up and change their fortunes. Local entrepreneurs are invited to come and stall for free, and when one purchases goods or services from the stalls their online services will be provided to them for free.

NEWS UPDATE (Current Affairs)
By: Mpho Radebe ( Yeah Ke Yena Poster )

ELECTRICITY COSTS MAY INCREASE WHILE THE COUNTRY IS ON STAGE 6 LOAD SHEDDING.

National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) will have a Special Energy Regulator Meeting today (12 January) to discuss Eskom's fifth Multi Year Price Determination (MYPD5) revenue application for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 financial years. Should this application be approved, the electricity tariff will be increased by 32%.

The busines sector, especially small to medium enterprises have been hit very hard by load shedding and power outages, as most are unable to generate enough profit while others have resorted to alternative means such as solar and generators. So with the country currently on Stage 6 load shedding, having to pay more for electricity will not be good news at all.

Eskom has put out a media statement which states: "Stage 6 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Wednesday continuously until further notice. Due to severe capacity constraints, Eskom will continue to manage the limited emergency generation capacity".

All eyes and ears will be on the outcomes of NERSA Special Meeting which will be taking place from 14:00 in the afternoon. NERSA is a regulator of electricity, piped gas and petroleum pipelines industries aimed at ensuring that interests of stakeholders as well as socio-economic development are balanced.

FOOD DELIVERED TO YOUR DOORSTEP THIS FESTIVE SEASON!!!

15/12/2022 By: Mpho Radebe ( Yeah Ke Yena Poster )

Kasify Food have taken it upon themselves to deliver your food to your doorstep, for a payment of as little as R50. You could be in Vanderbijlpark town, craving your favorite chisa nyama plate from kasi, or maybe you're in Sharpville, Tshirela or Bophelong and the one thing you want to eat while enjoying your 'bev' this festive season is pizza, chicken, burger or even sea food from your favorite franchise, Kasify will bring it to you.

Kasify Food is a food delivery service established by a young entrepreneur from Bophelong, Katleho Mofokeng.

Katleho, who was once an employee of Mr D's Food, which is a similar business operating within Vanderbijlpark, saw a gap in the market and realized that these service are scarce in the township and took it upon himself to bridge the gap.

"What we also do, we've added a little twist to the other big companies, we deliver kasi cuisine, we can deliver for example a plate from Ola's Shisa nyama or a plate of Tshepi's food even if you are based in town, in Vanderbijlpark", said Katleho.

He further elaborated that "there are people in town who love kasi cuisine but struggle to access it, that's where we come in. Whether it's chicken dust, skopo or mogodu plate customers are able to order from us.

As malls and shopping complexes will be packed with those who are buying christmas gifts and clothes or groceries and beverages for the festive activities, long queues and parking spots are bound to be a problem. So using Kasify Food to get your food delivered to you might be the smartest and most convenient thing to do.

VULTURES FC GOALKEEPER ABANDONS THE GOAL POST AND PLAYS MIDFIELD FOR OVER 20 MIN!!!

11/12/2022 By: Mpho Radebe ( Yeah Ke Yena Poster )

Vultures FC provided the most entertaining match of the day when they beat Sebokeng United Brothers FC 3 - 1 in the 2pm fixture.

Their goalkeeper left the goalposts unattended for over 20 minutes to go and show his dribbling skills in the second half as they were showboating and passing the ball around as though their opponents have already left the playing field.

In the other match that took place on day, Safari FC made an impressive come back after going down 1 - 0 to Zonke Killers in the first half, they came back and scored 5 goals to end the match with the score line of 5 - 1.

In a post match interview Coach Flavia of Zonke Killers said he suspects that Safari FC used "muthi" to win the match. While Safari FC coach said he hopes that his side will face Vaal Juventus in the round of 16.

By Fire By Force F.C also made a come back of note as they came back from 2 goals down against JV 11 to end the match with a score line of 2 - 2. Then they were able to book their spot in the next round of the tournament after winning the penalty shootout.

The closing match of the day lived up to expectations as Top 4 tournament winners Jagermaister were knocked out by Bangladesh FC, the team they defeated 4 - 0 in the final last Sunday.

The game was tightly contested and 90 minutes could not separate the two teams, Bangladesh FC goalie was the hero of the day as he saved 2 Jagermaister FC penalties to knock them out of the tournament.

The Festive Kasi Diski Tournament Top 32 brought to you by Kingdom Sports and Recreation along with Nkahlamakwa Business and Projects is taking place at UK Sports Grounds in Sebokeng Zone 7 and the final will be played on the 15th of December.

Messi Academy beats Show Me Your Number in penalty shootout!!!

10/12/2022 By: Mpho Radebe ( Yeah Ke Yena Poster )

As the rain poured down hard in the final fixture of day, Messi Academy FC and Show Me Your Number FC played to an intense and drama filled one all draw after 90 minutes. Which led to the first penalty shootout of the tournament.

Messi Academy's goalkeeper was the star of the show as he saved 2 penalties in their 4 - 3 penalty shootout win.

There were two other matches that took place earlier on in the day as the Festive Kasi Diski Tournament kicked off. Last year's winners and tournament favorites Beke Le Beke FC were knocked out by Major 1 FC in an entertaining match filled with skills and showboating that had the spectators whistling and cheering throughout the 90 minutes. Despite Major 1 FC scoring the only goal of the match. This was the most exciting encounter of the day.

Club Deportivo also managed to make it to the next round of the tournament by narrowly defeating Vaal Milano with a late goal in the second half of the match. Vaal Juventus on the other hand have also made it to the next round despite not playing, this is because their opponents for the day Electrical FC, did not make it to the playing field. With so much load shedding in the country, electricity is very rare to find.

Day 2 of the Festive Kasi Diski Tournament will see four encounters take place today, with the big one being a match between the finalists of last week's Top 4 tournament, Jagermaister and Bangladesh FC set to kick off at 4 pm.

The other matches of the day are as follows:

By Fire By Force FC vs JV 11 FC (10:00 kick off)

Zonke Killers FC vs Safari FC (12:00 kick off)

Vultures FC vs Sebokeng United Brothers (14:00 kick off)

CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY FOR AMOHELANG!!!

Management of Debonairs Pizza, hosted a Christmas party and donated wheelchairs, toys and food to the children of Amohelang Bophelong Disability Academy on Monday the 5th of December 2022.

The partnership between Amohelang and Debonairs Pizza has been going on for the past 7 months now, with Debonairs donating loaves of bread to the Academy on a weekly basis.

The academy teaches persons with disability from ages 3 to 59 years. "Our aim and objective is to see a child with disability able to read and write", said one of the Co-founders Mr Semende Munguambe.

Mrs Sonto Hlatshwayo, who is one of the co-founders of the Academy once more took the opportunity to encourage parents who have children living with disabilities to bring them to the academy so that they can learn how to read, write and acquire different skills as well as enjoy sports and recreational activities.

Having started the Amohelang Bophelong Disability Academy with just R1 000 from their own pockets to pay the first rent over a year ago, this Disability Academy is now gradually florishing and prospering.

So far the institution has produced carpenters and seamstresses who make a living through their work and also help finance the Academy. Proving that having a disability doesn't mean you do not have the capability to do great things.

Currently, Amohelang Bophelong Disability Academy is based at Bophelong Community Center (Asedi). However there is plan in place to turn the institution from a daycare center into a boarding school, and the land for this project has already been approved.

Bangladesh FC tried to fight their way back into the match in the second half, however the Maisters were the stronger side and they managed to score further 2 goals, with the fourth goal going through an open net after the Bangladesh FC goalkeeper made a costly mistake.

Jagermaister had earlier on booked their spot in the final through a 1 - 0 win against All Stars FC in a match which was tightly contested. Bangladesh on the other hand made it to the final by thrashing Show Me Your Number FC by 4 goals to nill in the second semi final of the day.

Massive Nation News spoke to Sushi who is Jagermaister FC coach after the explosive final and he said, "I wasn't expecting 4 goals, this was a tough game but technically we were able to beat them because of the fitness level". He further stated that they will use the R20 000 that they won to buy soccer boots for the players.

It will be interesting to see if Jagermaister FC will inflict more pain to Bangladesh FC or maybe Bangladesh will get their revenge as these two teams will once more play against each other on the 10th of December in the main tournament (Festive Kasi Diski Tournament Top 32), where they will be competing for R100 000 cash price.

Will the R20 000 inspire the hunger to win more for Jagermaister and help them to bag a further R100 000? it remains to be seen.

This tournament which is organized by Kingdom Sports and Recreations plays a crucial role in providing entertainment for the young and the old as well as helping unearth undiscovered talent in the Vaal. It will be taking place from the 9th to the 15th of December at UK sports ground in Zone 7, Sebokeng.
