Did you know that for 5 bucks a week you can build your disaster prep kit? Look at those supermarket flyers. It is full of loss-leaders - items that are sold under cost to get you in the store. Many of it are canned goods, etc. Purchase stuff you will use and remember to rotate your stock and you will never have outdated food.
