TWISTED TRIO
Official Rules
The Master Deck – Triple Deck -- 156 Cards
Game Objective – Complete all three card rounds before other players.
Number of Players – 2 - 4
Triple Level Structure – Zany Eights, Deranged Nines, and Insane Tens
The Deal
Every player must shuffle the Master Deck.
The last person to shuffle will be the first dealer and move clockwise each game after.
Beginning with the player to the left of the dealer, each player will receive 8 cards in total for the first round – Zany Eights. The remaining cards in the Master Deck will be placed in the center of the table, and the top card will be flipped over to reveal suit and denomination.
Gameplay
The player to the left of the dealer can play any card in their hand of the same suit, or multiple of the same denomination in order to change the suit to their advantage. If a player has any 8’s in their hand during the Zany Eights round, they can change the suit to that of their choosing.
The next player will then have to follow suit/denomination, lay multiple denominations to change suit again, or can also play an 8 to change suit again. Players continue in this sequence until unable to place a card from their hand. In the instance of not being able to play a card from their hand, a player must pick up a new card from the Master Deck and must wait until their next turn to lay down a card.
Once a player reaches the last card in the round, they must state “last card,” however, if another player notices they have not stated, "last card," the player that neglects to state "last card" will have to pick up another 5 cards from the deck.
When a player successfully empties their hand in the first round, they will then proceed to pick up 9 cards for the next round – Deranged Nines.
Players may be on a different round throughout Twisted Trio. All rules remain the same, except that during Deranged Nines, any card with the denomination "9" will allow the player to change to the suit of their choosing. This will continue with the Insane Tens round, where any card with the denomination "10" will allow the player to change to the suit of their choosing.
There is no limit to how many cards a player can lay during any turn, as long as sequentially the denominations are the same.
Cards & Sequences
2 – When a player plays a 2 of the applicable suit, it forces the player to their left to pick up two cards from the Master Deck. Multiple 2’s can be laid down to change the suit, but the player to the left must only pick up 2 cards from the Master Deck.
4 – When a player plays a 4 it forces the player to their left to miss a turn. Multiple 4’s can be laid down to change the suit, and each 4 placed in sequence will force the following amount of players to miss their turn.
Jack - When a player plays a Jack of the applicable suit, it forces the player to their left to miss a turn. Multiple Jacks can be laid down to change the suit, and each Jack placed in sequence will force the following amount of player to miss their turn.
Queen of Spades – When a player plays one Queen of Spades, it forces the player to their left to pick up 5 cards from the Master Deck. If a player has two, or all three Queen of Spades in their hand, they can play two or three at a time.
If two Queen of Spades are played at the same time, the player to their left must pick up the number of cards from the Master Deck applicable to the round that they are on. (Example, if a player plays two Queen of Spades, and the player to their left is on Deranged Nines round, they will then need to pick up 9 cards from the Master Deck).
If three Queen of Spades are laid, the player to the left will need to pick up the number of cards from the Master Deck applicable to the round that they are on, plus 5. (Example, the player lays three Queens of Spades, and the player to the left is on Insane Tens round, they will then need to pick up 10 cards, plus 5).
Duplicate Suit & Denomination – When a player plays two cards of the same suit and denomination (example, two Seven of Diamonds), they force the player to their left to blindly select one card from their hand, thus giving them the advantage of less cards to play.
