The biggest snow event of the season is moving in today... be prepared. This storm will last through the weekend. Valley rainfall amounts aren't that impressive unless you're caught in a thunderstorm. However, winds will be breezy for an extended amount of time, so power outages are possible. Foothill communities could see more than 2" of rainfall. Sierra communities should be prepared to be stuck for a few days, especially if you live in a remote location. Here's a look at the forecast. It's the first Blizzard Warning of the season!!! Strong winds will lead to blowing snow for the Sierra from 4am Thursday - 10am Sunday. Travel in the Sierra will be essentially non-existent. Plan for potential power outages. Also, it's the lowest snow of the season arriving during the day Saturday. Lower foothill communities around 2,000 ft could see a few inches of snowfall.
