The Chester County open burn ban has been extended through 12/26/2024. While the County has received some rain, the small amounts have not moved the needle on our drought level.

The open burn ban includes open burning of combustible material outdoors in either a burn barrel (screened or unscreened), fire ring, fire pit or on the ground. This includes the burning of garbage, leaves, grass, twigs, litter, paper and vegetation from land which has been cleared.

On November 10, 2024 a group of WCU student Veterans had the honor of waving “Old Glory” during the West Chester Veteran’s Day Parade.
Named “Old Glory,” the flag’s journey started in June 1999 when Air Force veteran, Dave Pawlewicz, decided to make a grand expression of patriotism; a tour of the Stars and Stripes to honor all veterans, commemorate important historical events, and salute members of the Armed Forces and emergency responders.
