Joy and gratitude ruled my niece's graduation from Howard Univ. It was an uplifting and poignant experience to witness how both my niece and school have grown and blossomed. This was the largest graduating class in Howard's 156 year history! Congratulations Michaela!

On this 61st anniversary of my birth, I reflect on youthful energy and how much I enjoyed spending time this past year socializing with my nieces and their friends, I reveled in their brilliance, optimism, idealism, and positive expectancy. All were eager and empowered as they embarked upon adulthood. They gave me hope for the future!

Scenes from the National Museum of African American History and Culture for the 2nd Annual Hip-Hop Block Party. The theme of this year's gathering was women in Hip-Hop. Queen Latifah was a surprise guest, but MuMu Fresh, Monie Love, and Remy Ma also shared their gift. Remaining open to new experiences is vital. Out of 50 years of hip-hop music, many songs performed were unknown to me. A good time was had by all.

Music is universal. It is a creative expression we all have in common and is a unifying factor for humanity.

What kind of music have you recently been listening to? On my Playlist, African Electronic Dance Music and Arabic Club Music have been very energizing!

R.I.P. Colin Powell. He was a fine man, intelligent, dignified and highly principled. Colin Powell garnered respect from people around the globe. I received this gracious letter from this man of war thanking me for sending him a copy of my book on Oneness and World Peace.

Lewis, I look up to you as a man of principle and values and will never cease to follow your footsteps and make the right decisions as what you have taught me. Thank you so much. You always wished the best for me and our family, and you’ve never failed to stay true to yourself and speak from your heart. I appreciate you for all you mean in my life. I love you with all my heart.

Our fathers have educated and inspired us when we were young and clueless. They did more for us than we can possibly imagine. Happy Father's Day!
