2028 Olympic Games Confirm 7 Sporting Events, Venues to be Held in Long Beach

The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games have announced venue assignments for Olympic sports, spotlighting locations in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Carson. Today’s announcement confirms that Long Beach will host seven Olympic sporting events, making it the city with the most events outside of Los Angeles for the LA28 Games.

The events in Long Beach will include:

Handball at the Long Beach Arena
Canoe-Sprint and Rowing at Marine Stadium
Sailing along the Belmont Shore
Marathon Swimming and Triathlon competitions along the Waterfront at Alamitos Beach
Water Polo at a temporary aquatics center in the Convention Center lot
The relocation of Rowing and Canoe-Sprint from Lake Perris in Riverside County to Marine Stadium was made possible through special arrangements by the World Rowing Congress, enhancing the experience for both athletes and spectators.

Long Beach may also host Artistic Swimming and Para Swimming events, pending approval from the City of Los Angeles, as proposed by LA28 on June 21, 2024.

In the coming months, LA28 will reveal additional venue assignments in Los Angeles and other cities, including new sports added since the original bid and the Paralympic venue plan.
