Keancast is designed to provide environmental science information to the public, including weather forecasts. We are run by students enrolled at Kean University's School of Environmental and Sustainability Sciences (KUSESS). We strive to exercise professional development, personal growth, and public awareness. Keancast is not a course, but rather an extra-curricular asset to coursework within majo
rs for the KUSESS. Broken up into four divisions, Keancast's mission is to build real world experiences for students to help develop and create industry-ready graduates. The Division of Environmental Consulting, Research, & Remediation focuses on the science itself! Here, students exercise practice conducting research, laboratory work, consulting tasks, and student-involved environmental projects with companies across the region. The Division of Mass Media focuses on science journalism and the incorporation of environmental and sustainability sciences in society through public awareness, dissemination, and community outreach. Here, students exercise practice with multimedia from television, radio, social media, and newspaper while translating the meaning and bringing relevancy of environmental science to the public. The Division of Global Networking focuses on building professional relationships while being involved directly in the field. This includes conference travel, presenting research to alumni and counterparts, and providing on-site events and programming. Here, students will be able to expand their knowledge of the field by remaining in contact with those in the industry to keep strong networks branching out from the university. This division is geared towards future educators of environmental and sustainability sciences. Students involved in Community Academia will outreach to schools across the region to connect with younger minds of the importance of environmental needs. This area also provides tutoring support for other students within the Kean University community. Keancast is intended for instructional and education uses and does not reflect the opinions or views of Kean University.
