Tulsa Record Label - Electronic & Found Sounds - Husband+Wife Owners Mark Kuykendall & Lindsey Neal
Unknown Tone Studio is the private recording facility of Producer + Engineer Mark Kuykendall and wife, Lindsey Neal Kuykendall. Mark holds an Associate of Science Degree from Full Sail University. He prefers the use of German software Ableton Live as his primary DAW. He creates a distinctive sound sculpting environment using plugins from various companies such as: Soniccouture, Spectrasonics Atmos
phere, MOTU Symphonic Instruments, M-tron Pro, Waves Gold, PSP, Sound Toys & others. He also makes his own plugins using Ableton which include an array of vintage analog synthesizers.

t r e e // n a t u r e sees their debut on Unknown Tone Records this February with the release of “Face Down In A Field Of Flowers” by post ambient textural sound collagist Paul Steele. Paul hails from the labels home town Tulsa, Oklahoma. Recorded directly to an 8-track analog recorder, they began working on the tracks in early 2023. We are very pleased to have their organic arrangements kick off the new year as part of Unknown Tone’s new partner label, Yield Recordings, telling Oklahoma story though sound.
High-bias cassette tape, includes two field recording 35mm prints, custom t r e e // n a t u r e sigil sticker by Zurastral and DL code. Only 30 copies available // TONE RED TINT SONIC Shell 40min total run time

Bruce Goff was one of the greatest American architects of the 20th century. His unconventional perspective challenged stigmas about the Midwest’s inability to produce innovative work. A peer to Frank Lloyd Wright, his work had a profound influence on the next generation of architects, including Phillip Johnson and Frank Gehry. However, Goff’s willingness to explore unprecedented forms often solicited polarized perspectives of his work. As a result of establishing his practice in an otherwise conservative landscape and his unabashed desire to experiment with the possibilities of form, much of his work has been left to decay or forgotten altogether. GOFF explores the life of an iconoclast and chronicles the events that lead to the destruction and renewed interest of his memory and dwellings.

Unknown Tone is honored to welcome back artist Sima Kim for our first official release of 2021. This will be Kim’s first release in 5 years and certainly worth the wait. "Plugged Eyes" dives head first into a vast world of spacious experimental electronica. Lush FM synthesis and algorithmic modular pianos cascade though nebulous domains with a near scientific precision.
Kim, depicts a future, post mankind, where machine and technology blend into nature. An advanced biotech environment, symbiotically linked to the nature world. Tracks were composed and arranged using everything from high end plugins, to homemade DIY synthesizers and oscillators. Imagine you enter a "Temple", then notice something disappear "Vanished Fantasy" as your sight diminishes "Plugged Eyes" you pass through the "Corridor" into the inner sanctum. The listener could theoretically conjure up a map in ones mind, revealing amorphous forms that inhabit these expanding galaxies.

UTR - 154 Gilder / Bilín Wake - Gold to Gold ______________________________ I will never hear you say, “I could have made more of you, something more wild.” You should have gone with them in the red dust grass, the dogs dancing with Saint Vitus under Jupiter, each perfect wave an attempt to bloody your hands on the sky and all it held back from me. Make no sign, even in howled-upon, hemorrhaging night without gentle forms of any kind. I’ve made my own fine, heroic sweeps in dust, traced grand directives in sand with branch and horn. But now it’s only fists in the city, scratch scratch scratch concrete, coughing and counting and waking up wrong, always getting jammed in between. At the beginning, I have to imagine, they mostly talked about the end. At the beginning, I have to imagine, they mostly struggled to identify that moment marked by a sensation of falling backwards and down at exponential speeds, a sense of some soaring approach of imminent release, skating a slope, frayed rope impossibly on both sides of some impossible division, divided and so not announcing itself except in the shock of emergence from the state which defines one's being there. If I can figure out who I am tomorrow morning, I promise you will not hear me say, "You could have made more of me." ______________________________ Gilder :: Solo project of Michael Gillilan, who has drummed in Chicago bands J Fernandez, Thin Hymns and This Is Cinema. Mixing melodic improvisations with patient repetition, Gilder creates a kind of ambient minimalism that evokes a longing for the familiar, coupled with the tension of inevitable change. Bilín Wake :: Duo project of Mark Trecka and Evan Hydzik, both founding members of Pillars and Tongues. --------------------------------------- This marks the first release for these 3 artist on Unknown Tone, and will be avaliable as a 30min split cassette release.
