After three days of intense publications training, THS Publications students initiate new students and celebrate the end of the annual Publications Boot Camp at Texas High School on July 24, 2024. Students learned the basics of photography, yearbook design and planned news coverage for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.

Publications students Alianna Chavez, Mattison Wiley and Lauren Friday work to build the highest paper tower in a team building exercise at the THS Publications Boot Camp on July 22, 2024 at Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas. Student Publication leadership revealed this years theme of REset to the visual journalists, newspaper and yearbook students and the staff trained for the upcoming school year.

Approaching the stage to accept her “Most Likely To,” senior Jenna Humphrey embraces senior Truth Dukes during the annual THS Publications Banquet. Students in Yearbook, Newspaper, and Photography were recognized for their outstanding achievements within the programs along with speeches were given from each program’s individual leadership. Students were also inducted into the Quill and Scroll National Honor Society for Scholastic Journalism marking their accomplishments and dedication to Publications. The banquet was held in the Dan Haskins Student Center on May 9, 2024.

Texas High also announced the top 10 graduates of 2024: Liliana Sanchez, Kamryn Jean, Caroline Cook, Kady Russel, Eli Likins, Sophie Keller, Anna Bius, Kristina Colburn, salutatorian Jane Kate Mitchell, valedictorian Nash*ta Kalam.

TigerVision adviser Charles Aldridge reacts emotionally to a video of past students, colleagues and friends congratulating him on winning the Student Television Network Teacher of the Year Award on May 7, 2024, in the TigerVision Studio on the campus of Texas High School. Lessons on Leveling Up from GameStop to Laura Mercier and Beyond” in the Sullivan Performing Arts center after visiting with students.

Demolition of the southern Career and Technology buildings started last week on the campus of Texas High School. The demolition makes it possible for the construction of one of two new CTE buildings to be built on the campus. Voters approved a bond last year to build new buildings for Texas High School and new elementary campuses within the district.

Students wipe their tears away during the memorial for Akia Scott, a former REACH teacher as well as the ACDC for Texas High School. Scott passed away unexpectedly and her passing shocked her current and former students. The Memorial took place on April 30, 2024 after school released on the Texas High Track where student and faculty shared fond memories and acknowledged Scott’s impact on the lives of her students.

Smiling for the camera, junior Anna Haley cuddles with Donner, a puppy up for adoption. TISD Leader In Me held a pet adoption fair in collaboration with local rescue agencies at Texas High School on April 27, 2024. Leader In Me students planned the event over the past year, collecting food, toys, and other supplies to assist those adopting a new pet. Food trucks, bounce houses, and other fun activities were also provided.

Senior Liberty Cowan spins during one of the performances of the 2024 Texas Highstepper Spring Show, “Dancing Through Colors.” The first performance took place on April 26, 2024 in the Sullivan Performing Arts Center. The second and final performance will be held in the same location on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Celebrating their win, the Texas Tigers Varsity Softball Team drench their teammates and coaches in water. The Lady Tigers faced the Pine Tree Lady Pirates at the Winnsboro Raiders field on April 23, 2024. The Lady Tigers beat the Lady Pirates with a score of 8-5, sending the Pirates home and guaranteeing a spot in playoffs. The Lady Tigers begin round 1 of playoffs at Whitehouse against the Huntsville Lady Hornets on April 25, 2024.

Standing to make his bid, senior Michael Guzman laughs during the auction of a new Acer laptop. Texas High held a casino night for students including games and an auction for Seniors with over $23,000 in items after Prom at the Texarkana Convention Center on April 20, 2024. Guzman finally won the bid of the fifth and final Acer laptop of the auction.
