PINELLAS COUNTY – Detectives assigned to the Use of Deadly Force Investigative Task Force are investigating an officer-involved shooting.
At approximately 11:50 p.m. on March 29, 2023, St. Petersburg Police Department officers responded to a multi-family residence located at 215 29th Street South in St. Petersburg after reports of a male subject firing a gun. Officers later identified the suspect as 26-year-old Jerid Fenderson.
According to detectives, Fenderson allowed the victims, an adult female, adult male, and juvenile male, stay with him in his one-bedroom unit at the residence. Sometime during the evening, Fenderson left the location and when he returned, he found the adult female, adult male, and juvenile male asleep in his bed. Fenderson became upset, retrieved a firearm, and went outside and fired the gun. Fenderson returned inside the bedroom, threating the three victims with the firearm and pointed the gun at them.
Shortly after St. Petersburg Police officers arrived on scene, Fenderson exited the residence with the firearm and began firing at the officers. St. Petersburg Police Officer Hayden Tuggle returned fire but did not strike Fenderson. Fenderson retreated into the residence. Additional officers arrived on scene and began to communicate with Fenderson via the telephone, attempting to get him to come out. Fenderson then fired additional rounds inside of the residence.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., the St. Petersburg Police SWAT responded to the residence. As SWAT officers arrived, Fenderson exited the residence again and fired more shots towards the officers. SWAT Officer Quentin-Lee Morgan, Officer Robert Snippe, and an SIU Detective were in place and exchanged gunfire with Fenderson. Fenderson was struck one time in the chest and retreated into the residence.
Fenderson was located inside the residence by the SWAT team and transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with non-life-threatening injuries. Fenderson is listed in stable but crit

DEPUTIES ARREST DELTONA MAN ACCUSED OF AGGRAVATED STALKING OF 6-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A Deltona man is charged with aggravated stalking of a 6-year-old girl after her father and neighbors reported a long pattern of his harassing behavior toward her and others.
Mark Greenburg, 55 (DOB 3/13/1967) of Fayson Circle in Deltona, was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest.
The arrest followed a series of complaints from close to a dozen witnesses who have reported his behavior, including at least 11 incidents reported to the Sheriff’s Office over the past 8 months. Those reports involved Greenburg harassing neighbors, yelling at them and their kids using a megaphone, and driving past houses while recording children on his phone.
Deputies responded to Greenburg’s neighborhood Friday evening after a father reported Greenburg walked to the end of his driveway and made several unusual comments to his 6-year-old daughter while she was playing outside. The comments included words to the effect of “I’m going to make you famous” and “I’m going to turn you into a woman” or a “big girl.” Several witnesses gave similar accounts of Greenburg’s comments to the child, including that he was going to pick her up and take her to Disney World.
The father told deputies this and prior incidents have made his daughter afraid to go outside in the neighborhood. He said Greenburg’s comments have been getting progressively worse and more frequent.
The 6-year-old often visits her grandmother’s house in another neighborhood, where it was reported Greenburg parked outside Thursday and Friday and took pictures. Because he’s never been invited there and had no reason to know where she lives, the family believed Greenburg followed someone there.
Deputies attempted to speak to Greenburg Friday evening, but he refused to answer the door and said he would talk another day.
After obtaining a warrant, deputies with the Deltona Crime Suppr
This week students from our high schools and sponsors gathered for a day of networking to kick off the Mental Health Student Advisory Committee meetings for the 2022-23 school year. They brainstormed ways to collaborate on mental health topics and planned activities to do at school with the intent to lower mental illness health stigma and promote emotional wellness.
During the kick-off, students and sponsors took the time to create posters that break down what they will do during State with Hello Week, a national call-to-action week dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging among youth. It starts on September 19.
“We are always trying to promote inclusiveness in our schools. We want the students to become leaders and implement initiatives surrounding mental health. It is invigorating to see the students get to know one another, share ideas and build a community of cohesiveness,” shared Elizabeth Tanner, Supervisor of Emotional Wellness.
We look forward to seeing all the exciting mental awareness activities in schools this year. We know the positive impact this committee will continue to make in the lives of so many students who may be struggling in silence. Together we can erase the stigma!

Russian National Charged with Conspiring to Have U.S. Citizens Act as Illegal Agents of the Russian Government
An indictment was unsealed today in Tampa, Florida, charging a Russian national, working on behalf of the Russian government and in conjunction with the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), with allegedly orchestrating a years-long foreign malign influence campaign that used various U.S. political groups to sow discord, spread pro-Russian propaganda, and interfere in elections within the United States.
As alleged in the indictment, from at least December 2014 until March 2022, Aleksandr Viktorovich Ionov, a resident of Moscow, together with at least three Russian officials, engaged in a years-long foreign malign influence campaign targeting the United States. Ionov is the founder and president of the Anti-Globalization Movement of Russia (AGMR), an organization headquartered in Moscow and funded by the Russian government. Ionov utilized AGMR to carry out Russia’s influence campaign.
“Ionov allegedly orchestrated a brazen influence campaign, turning U.S. political groups and U.S. citizens into instruments of the Russian government,” said Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen of the Justice Department’s National Security Division. “The Department of Justice will not allow Russia to unlawfully sow division and spread misinformation inside the United States.”
According to the indictment, Ionov — working under the supervision of the FSB and with the Russian government’s support — recruited political groups within the United States, including U.S. Political Group 1 in Florida, U.S. Political Group 2 in Georgia, and U.S. Political Group 3 in California, and exercised direction or control over them on behalf of the FSB. Specifically, Ionov provided financial support to these groups, directed them to publish pro-Russian propaganda, coordinated and funded direct action by these groups within the United States intended to further Russian
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is investigating a deputy-involved shooting involving three Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies.
At 12:42 a.m. on July 24, 2022, the HCSO Communications Bureau received a call in reference to shots fired at the Bristol Bay Apartments, located at 4709 Bristol Bay Way in Tampa.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that two men had engaged in a verbal and physical confrontation at a party over a female earlier in the night. The confrontation moved outside where the suspect, Jonathan Huertas Reyes, 32, shot at the other male multiple times. No one was injured.
Deputies made contact with Huertas Reyes, and while attempting to engage in conversation with him, noticed he had a fanny pack on him. He ignored deputies' attempts to speak with them and led them on a brief foot chase through the apartment complex. In an attempt to get Huertas Reyes to obey commands to stop, a deputy took out his agency-issued taser. When Huertas Reyes observed the taser, he pulled out a firearm and pointed it at his own head.
Onlookers who saw the suspect with the gun began shouting at Huertas Reyes in Spanish and English to put down his weapon.
A bilingual deputy, who was called to the scene, began speaking with Huertas Reyes on the phone while standing at a distance from him, attempting to encourage him to walk toward them without his gun in hand. Huertas Reyes repeatedly made threats to harm himself, suggesting that he would be going to jail for the shooting that had taken place earlier.
Huertas Reyes put his firearm on the ground during the dialogue, but he refused to come toward deputies. He eventually picked the firearm back up, forcing deputies to fire their service weapons toward him in fear of their lives and the lives of onlookers nearby. Deputies deployed immediate lifesaving efforts, including using an AED on Huertas Reyes. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. An FDLE investigation is
