So many worlds colliding. Musical theater, drag, The Dresden Dolls, my kid, fan art, and circular thank you notes.

This is me and Jinkx Monsoon holding my son Ash’s first fan art, and what an unbelievable full circle moment. Jinkx is a longtime dolls fan (she was in the old school brigade as a baby theater geek teen in Portland) who exploded to stardom and won Rupaul’s drag race…twice.

History just collided when Jinkx played a role in a recent Dr. Who episode as a non-binary evil music-eating monster called “THE MAESTRO” - 3 and 4, can we talk about the LOOK HERE PEOPLE ♥️♥️♥️ - and Ash was smitten and made…his first fan art. Luckily Jinkx was nearby playing Audrey in an off-broadway run of “Little Shop of Horrors”, so we got to see the show and deliver the art IN PERSON.

I wept real tears when Jinks sang “Somewhere That’s Green”, and Ash got to deliver his Maestro fan art. AND I got to have a really good long sushi sitdown with Jinkx and talk about life and art and stage and work and power. I think we have found our people. There was a lot of thanking in both directions. Does life get better than this?

Well, there’s always the rub. Jinks posted this photo to her feed and I was reminded that there are a ton of people out there who have encountered me only via TikTok memes who think I’m a terrible person. Whatever, people. I am so much bigger on the inside.

I love this life, these circles, this explosion.

Jinkx is heading to reprise her role as Mama Morton in CHICAGO on Broadway in a few days…head that way, please, and cheer extra fu***ng loud.

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH, fellow theater qu**rs. I see you all and love you. Don’t let the bastards get you down. And give Jinkx a follow. She’s putting the art first and this is a performer of total integrity to follow alllll the way.

In a world where spoilers are everywhere: Come meet my new Drag Persona IN PERSON this summer! Who am I revealing? Did I finally pick another new stage name? Probably. Will I still be awesome on a weird family friendly level? Yeah, they're making me family friendly at this rate but fabulous opportunity. I'm also bringing candy for the kids because Drag is an ALL AGES full contact sport. It sucks to be in the LGBTQIA around here so come have a gay old time!

Using tunemymusic.com I was able to transfer ALMOST all of my Sounds of Springfield Playlist from Amazon Music to Tidal...almost.

I don't want to tag any bands buuuuuuuuuut this happened...

Gonna try showing it to band members and see if it gets remedied. Will update as needed, though!

A lot of people ask why I don't share show posters/ads/events/etc. Facebook is why. Unless you're sharing it in the Sounds of Springfield group or TAGGING us or Casey FbJail Lee, we have no clue when your shows are. Thanks to Meta, everyone thinks we're just taking the page with us, on the go, on mobile, whatever. Nope. wrong again. We still put in dedicated time at the PC doing what we love because we won't change anything. We roll with what we roll with. We don't have donors, we don't have sponsors, and we don't have any of the financial capabilities of some of the others out there. This is still a free public service because we love local music even if the people don't love us. Reputation is bu****it, especially in music. Everyone is "supposed" to be "professional" but nobody ever truly is. We'd rather be honest, raw, and have no filter than pretend to be something we're not. Is it better to burn out or fade away?
