Born in Spokane, Washington on September 21, 1962, I am third of four children. Skilled and knowledgeable in composition and submission of manuscripts—articles, stories, poems; grants, film and theatre scripts—to editors for consideration for publication. Firs

6/02 thru 11/02: Personal Assistant for attorney Stan Lippmann. Helped construct (remodel) Mr Lippmann’s office in Pioneer Square, Seattle, and in the daily management of his personal affairs. (Reference below.)
10/97 thru 2/02: Freelance Writer. First published in 1991.
7/94 thru 9/97: Manager, YNOT Magazines & News. Assisted owner in operating store: cashier, shipping and receiving, stock and inventory, making deposits and balancing register at end of shifts. Entrusted with improving and maintaining workflow, morale, and atmosphere in both stores—Federal Way and Seattle locations. (Reference below.)

June 1992: AAS in General Studies/Liberal Arts. Graduated with honors: GPA 3.8. Focus of studies: literature, computer studies, paper, printing, and publishing; Pierce College, Tacoma, WA. Received a grant from the Puffin Foundation in April 1992 to complete first novel, Zupan; grant awarded on merit of introductory chapter to Zupan and poetry chapbook concept: An Alphabet of Prison. Grant subsidized, 02/96, toward publication of 2nd poetry chapbook: Kinds, Amounts & Frequencies, and again (03/04) for publication of subsequent material. Received grant, 11/96, from the Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation toward publication of Pinochle, a one-hour play in one act. Honorable Mention, 1994 International PEN Writing Contest, for long poem: Seamless. Publications

Pinochle, a one act, one-hour play about watching someone die in Spokane County Jail—and being unable to help or to stop it. Zupan, a novel about Hillyard, a large railroad outpost (now dead) located north of Spokane, Washington, where I grew up. The Trailer under the Pepper Tree, a story about social/personal and spiritual ramifications of freeway/ramp building in America. The Surrogate, an original screenplay about a surrogate rockstar, in the tradition of Robert Altman's Nashville. Grendel, a screen adaptation of the 1971 John Gardner book, Grendel; The Beowulf legend told through the monster's eyes. References
