Theta Pi Sorority

Theta Pi is a sorority at Sewanee: The University of the South Our collective GPA is 3.3 and we strive every semester for academic success.

adership Council, Sewanee Writing Center, and the Sewanee Society of Scholars, residency in theme houses, among many others. You can find our girls working at Stirling's or participating on every Varsity sports team, and studying in every academic major. Being a part of a group where girls share academic advice and encouragement is an especially important part of Theta Pi. It's an exciting day for everyone when a friend gets their gown! Our alumnae have gone on to exciting careers working as journalists for publications like Vogue; as attorneys, social workers, accountants, professors, museum curators, teachers, athletic coaches; as PR consultants and art gallery sales professionals; in the fashion, marketing and music industry, non profit realm and even working at Christie's auction house in NYC! They are also highly involved in community life. Some even have children who have found their path to Sewanee and to Theta Pi. The sorority has a close relationship with the ladies at the Blue Monarch, a women's shelter down the mountain. Our philanthropic events with Blue Monarch have helped raised thousands of dollars for the women, and helped build new rooms for their families. Each Fall Theta Pi hosts the Turkey Trot, a 5k family fun run to raise money and awareness for Blue Monarch. Our commitment to the community includes independent endeavors including work with Cause for Paws, babysitting kids at the nursery at Otey Parish, Big People for Little People, tutoring elementary students in Cowan, and working with "Grandfamilies" in Grundy county. Rush is an important part of Theta Pi and Fall is an exciting time for Freshmen to get to know the girls of the sorority. Theta pi hosts a number of fun events such as "Theta PRE", "Recess", "Flu Shots", "Tacky Christmas," and "Theta Rodeo." Rush isn't until January, but Fall is a great time to learn about the sorority, and come hang out! Upper class rush is in September and we welcome transfer students, upperclass women, and girls who weren't able to rush the first time. Theta pi has relationships with all of the sororities and fraternities and loves to throw a good party! Some of our traditional formals include "Wine and Whiskey", "Crush Party", and Christmas Formal. Theta pi also loves to have band parties with fraternities such as Alpha Tau Omega or Sigma Alpha Epsilon. This year, Theta Pi hosted many inter-sorority events along with sisterhood events such as "Friendsgiving" and "Oscar Party."

It is always so fun and special to have our Mommas (and siblings, fathers, friends, and other loved ones) join us on the mountain for Mom’s Weekend! We enjoyed an afternoon Welcome Party on Friday, a lovely senior dinner catered by Papa Ron’s on Saturday evening, and an awesome band party hosted with other sororities at Phi on Saturday night💙💙💙

Our Story
