There are a handful but here are just a couple of differences:
Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) offer a set of providers and services that are typically a lower cost overall than a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO).
While an HMO may offer lower costs, they also require a Primary Care Physician (PCP) to refer you to other specialists. A PPO does not require a referral to see a specialist, and also offer out-of-network options, generally at a higher cost.

A raid. A ban on weed. A cross-country marijuana operation. Marijuana was a very big part of the commune in Tennessee so some of the members stayed in Humboldt, California to grow pot, which they would then trade for soybeans grown on the Tennessee farm.

I'd like you to meet Guy Jones. Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing highlights from my "Life Story Interview" with Guy.
Born on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in 1956, Guy's life has, in many ways, been predestined to be anything but normal. When he was 18, he journeyed away from the reservation in search of "the root of America's hatred."
This journey took him all over the states until he finally settled in Dayton, Ohio. He explains that Dayton is a city built on the "48th Parallel"—on one side there was slavery, and on the other, freedom.
Guy's story is intimate, whimsical, and anything but predictable. One moment he was telling me about his experiences with police brutality: "I was handcuffed and kneeling on the ground," he said. "I could feel the cold steel of the shotgun on the back of my neck." Moments later, he was explaining how quantum physics and Lakota spirituality share a lot in common. This pattern—of sharing some of life's most visceral and harrowing stories, then shifting to deep spiritual and personal wisdom—characterized the entirety of our conversation. By the end, I knew I had filmed something special to share with the world.
