Ming Chen's bars and bites guide to the NW.
Why? Ming spends a lot of time on the road, traveling to different conventions. In doing so, he has become familiar with many cities across the USA, getting to know the local restaurants, cafes, dive bars, and more. And he has a few favorite spots in the Northwest that he never misses.

The Liberty Pub in North Bend, Ore. is a nice surprise off #Hwy101. At first glance, this bar looks like a decent watering hole with plenty of love from locals. But what is that? A room for playing #dungeonsanddragons?! Is that pop art of the #Borg queen? Are those #montypython action figures? And did Harrison Ford really sit at this spot at the bar?! You’ll have to ask the regulars for that story. Plus the menu is pretty decent, spanning calamari to calzones, and plenty of pizza (including a pad Thai pizza that we were not bold enough to try). If you’re in the North Bend area along the #OregonCoast, this is one spot not to miss. #nerd #geek #starwars #startrek #pub #oregontravel #geektravel #nerdtravel #oregon #pnw #pnwadventures #pnwlife #roadtrip #oregonroadtrip #bar #popculture #popcultureart
A trip along the Oregon coast is incomplete without a stop at the @ittybittyinn in North Bend, Ore. It has five themed rooms, including: ~A Star Trek room ~An Oregon Trail room ~A 1970s disco room ~A tiki lounge room ~A tiki cha-cha room. The gift shop is stocked with custom-made soaps, local coffee and beer, shirts and more. The inn itself is painted with murals from Sasquatch to Star Wars to Battlestar Galactica. They also offer mountain bike tours and crabbing tours. Perhaps the biggest selling point is the innkeeper Rik. He has gone above and beyond, and totally far out, making this motel an otherworldly experience. The rooms have so many details and deep cuts for fans, they cannot be listed here. They just have to be experienced.
