The Emerald Street Way

THE EMERALD STREET WAY The Life and Legacy of The Emerald Street Boys

[Seattle, WA - November 1, 2019] Seattle’s acclaimed Emerald Street Boys’ first concert, held at the historic Washington Hall in 1981, would set the tone and amplify an entire region, signifying the expansion of Hip Hop in the Pacific Northwest. 38 years later, the impact of The Emerald Street Boys’ contributions are felt widely as generations would continue to follow the path that they helped to pave.

“Edward “Sugar Bear” Wells Jr. was the epitome of Hip Hop in Seattle, a true legend in his own right.'' James “Captain Crunch” Croone Sr. remarks about his lifelong friend, crew mate and visionary behind seminal Hip Hop groups The Emerald Street Boys and The Emerald Street Girls.

In an effort to celebrate the life and legacy of Sugar Bear, who passed away in June, 206 Zulu will be memorializing their community driven, state-of-the-art recording studio at Washington Hall, by naming it ‘Emerald Street Studios’; at the very location they had their start, nearly four decades ago.
