"MIXING" with Eighty One Keys
Mixing is arguably one of the most important steps in the recording process when we are making decisions with the material that has been recorded to get it to sound on speakers like we hear it in our heads.
Much of what happens in the mixing process is stylistic, but much of it may as well be hard fast rules that takes both training and practice to learn and do well.
It is possible to mix your own material, that's how we at Eighty One Keys learned. But if you do not have the time, skill, equipment, software, or the care to do it yourself, then get with someone who does. The master will never be very much better than the mix and nothing will ruin a master and turn fans off faster than a bad mix so, get the mix right no matter how you do it.

The Meaning Behind "81 KEYS"
This is a little back story to the meaning our company name has for us and how it influences how we operate as a music company.
"Music is often about being in key and hitting the right notes at the right time. Striving to be “in key” can be a metaphor for life and it is certainly how we organize our company.
A full size piano may have 88 keys, but the first seven are hardly used because the frequencies are so low. Most of the popular music that’s made today is right in the sweet spot, yet when the emotion deems it necessary those lower frequencies may be included. Generally, and especially in Hip Hop, that space is reserved for the subs and 808’s.
The “81” in our name refers to the keys that we normally produce within. The “Keys” in our name refers to both the piano and the notes of other instruments playing in concert creating harmonies and dissonance.
However, the keys make no sound of themselves if they are never struck. It is our passion for making powerful music that drives us to play those keys and to make it beautiful.
This is what Eighty One Keys represents to us; power, beauty, freedom, passion and creativity. We are responsible for the world we create."
