So I’ve been debating on wether or not to post this but at 10:23am will be exactly one year since a lost one of the closest people to me so I wanted to share the letter I wore to my bro/cousin because after I got the call I didn’t sleep for 36hrs but since it’s been a yr here it is, love and miss you David Ailep

This pain is as sharp as the needles you used to help you forget the trauma you endured growing up. No kid should have to experience what you did, I understood your reasoning though in my own way from my alcoholism. You were supposed to get better and you were supposed to let me help. I get it though I’m not mad, you can’t help those who don’t want it. Just know being in that ICU room with you before anyone else was rough. I’m glad we spent that time alone for awhile though. So I can gather myself to be there for our family and be the strong one for them when they came to see you. The hardest part was the fact that I wanted to look for you the day before to tell you I found out how to get you off the streets. I wanted to help you stay clean and the fact that I talked to you just days prior with you saying “I’m sorry cousin I’ll do better when I get out, I promise”. When I got notified that you were released I waited for a phone call from you. I got one but it’s not the one no one ever what’s to get. As I walked around that corner to see your lifeless body being kept alive by machines my heart dropped and shattered like the childhood that got robbed from you. Why couldn’t I just have been able to help you start a new journey to a life you deserved. Which was support, love and brotherhood as we always had as kids. Especially since we were the only boys in the family growing up, you were and still are my brother first and my cousin last. I’ll never forget the days we left to Highline community college to learn how to do graffiti, play RuneScape, watch Melbourne Shuffle videos, and sometimes google “Boobs” haha. Then we would go run around Pac highway practicing our “Parkour”. The nights we would sneak out to meet up with girls and smoke ci******es along pac highway thinking we were cool as s**t. The summers I would spend with you guys in neah bay where we would play in the woods and beach all day. Where you would scare the s**t out of me about thump thump drag, you as***le. The nights we would stay up all night at Aunty Marie’s playing call of Duty modern warfare 2. The nights we would tell Ceci scary stories and pull a prank on her to scare the living s**t out of her, only to get our asses whopped by your mom for making her cry. The nights we would smoke the g***a as you called it with our sister Nataly, so you can have some Magnificent finds. The one thing I’ll remember the most though is getting the phone call I never wanted. Holding your hand crying and talking to you by ourselves, knowing that it will most likely be our last bro talk. You were cold and unresponsive but I knew you could hear me somehow. David you are and will always be my brother until the end of time. So until we link up again to play call of duty, RuneScape, draw graffiti, and listen to hardstyle EDM. I will miss you and never forget who you really were without the drugs. Which was loving, protective, brave, creative, intelligent and strong. I love you David and I’ll miss you more than anything because I lost my first and only Brother I knew growing up.
