Camp Susan Curtis has impacted the lives of more than 18,000 children, working towards a greater vision that all Maine children feel valued and have the opportunity to thrive. In celebration of 50 years, Camp Susan Curtis hosted an extraordinary Campfire Under the Stars gala. The event took place at Bricksouth, a massive industrial space at Thompson's Point. AV Technik was brought in as a partner to design and implement a technical experience that was thoughtful, meaningful and authentic to the Susan Curtis mission. Bath Iron Works is a full service shipyard specializing in the design, construction and support of complex surface ships, from destroyers to cruisers, providing the U.S. Navy’s most advanced, high quality surface combatants for more than a century. A christening ceremony is a formal tradition that involves blessing a new ship before it sets sail, and is said to bring good luck and safe travel to the vessel and its crew. BIW has partnered with for over 10 years on these high profile ceremonies. The relationship requires that we comply with strict United States Government security protocols, public outdoor safety regulations and a heightened awareness around an A-list of government and military officials. Providing an elevated experience for the thousands in attendance celebrating the immense skill set of the shipbuilders and the dedication of the ship's crew to our country, was an honor.

In February of 2019, Governor Mills issued an Executive Order to Implement Immediate Responses to Maine’s Opioid Epidemic. The Mills Administration has taken significant action to respond to the opioid crisis, including increased access to the life-saving reversal drug naloxone; additional recovery resources in communities across the state; expanded treatment capacity, including the number of beds for medically supervised withdrawal; and developed innovative policy solutions to support Maine people with substance use disorder.

As part of this initiative an annual day-long public summit was implemented to provide an opportunity for education, collaboration and support. was brought in to be part of the original 2019 summit team and have now supported six summits: 4 hybrid events and 2 virtual during the 2020 and 2021 pandemic.

The importance of this conference requires a partnership that can ensure the presenters are seen, heard and felt with clarity and impact. With over 1,200 in-person attendees and hundreds more attending virtually, the technical systems have to be rock solid, unobtrusive and implemented by a team who is sensitive to the severity of the message.

The result: people, programming and technology seamlessly working together for meaningful human connection and growth.

L.L. Bean has kicked off another exciting season of free outdoor concerts in the park. This season's line up includes: 12OC, Girl Named Tom, Los Lobos, NEEDTOBREATHE, Carly Pearce and Hunter Hayes. Being outdoors and free to the public, there are a ton of critical logistics required to ensure success. Sound ordinances, audience and artist safety, weather and operations that stand true to the coveted "Bean's Brand". The team works closely with L.L. Bean as well as directly with the touring artists to facilitate and ensure a seamless ex*****on. The result: exceptional experiences that are safe, impactful and inspiring. recently partnered with the ROUX Institute on their 2024 Commencement at Merrill Auditorium. Being part of the larger Northeastern University system, there was a tremendous amount of collaboration required around "standards" as well as what tech-forward ideas we could bring to the experience. The ROUX Institute stands for innovation and we wanted to support a ceremony that backed that core value. Providing a significant amount of LED video and lighting allowed us to get creative with the design and layering throughout the event. We had 5 cameras for IMAG, record and stream, video playback, lower 3rds, live captions and custom pixel mapped content. Even with all the technology present, the team seamlessly integrated all the individual parts to ensure a clean, unobtrusive, flawless and elevated experience for the Institute, their guests and most importantly, the graduates!

Meet Dylan. He is the newest addition to our crazy little family here at . He is a recent magna cm laude graduate from the New England School of Communication. He likes making pizza and playing bass. His voice is MUCH deeper than mine and he would most likely win if we arm wrestled. When you see him, say hi and give him a hug... he is actually a big teddy bear. University of Maine Augusta at the Augusta Civic Center, Dean College in Franklin MA, Trinity College in Hartford CT, University of New England and Southern Maine Community College at the Cross Insurance Arena, Unity College at Merrill Auditorium and just last week, Bates, Bowdoin and Colby all in the same weekend. A massive shout out to the AV Technik Team for their dedication to collaboration, successful deployment of the most highly integrated audiovisual systems and ensuring the elevation of human connection as their top priority. Interactive and immersive event experiences are powerful ways to bring people together. This spring, collaborated with the Bowdoin College Department of Theater and Dance to explore an exciting new vision for their end-of-semester dance recitals. Rather than have their audience sit quietly in an auditorium, while dancers performed on stage, Bowdoin wanted to transform their gym into a dance club with immersive sound and lighting to blur the line between audience and performer. From the moment they entered the room, the audience was encouraged to participate. Students performed their pieces with the audience moving alongside them on the dance floor. The audience consisted of fellow students and staff, as well as people from the Brunswick community, proving the department's message that dance is for everyone. We love integrating technology with our partners' ideas to create exciting, innovative, and immersive experiences that elevate human connection.

At we are constantly thinking about how technology can elevate human connection. Seamlessly integrated, effortless in operation, transparent as possible and highly impactful. Although not new, Digital Discussion Systems are one of those technologies. These systems allow for discussion based meetings of any size to communicate clearly and effectively. Our main control racks provided 2 control units for full redundancy, built in wireless connectivity for device agnostic control and custom I/O panels. The system is network based so connection from the control rack to the microphones uses standard Category 5e cable. The units are linked from one to the next in a loop configuration starting and ending at the control rack. The system is sending and receiving in both directions simultaneously so if a microphone unit in the middle of the chain should fail, all downstream units are still operational via the reverse data feed. Each discussion unit has multiple user level controls as well as a small built-in speaker. This allows for each microphone position to have its own personal sound system. This keeps the audio highly localized with a tremendous amount of level before any potential feedback. For long duration meetings it also helps focus as this system avoids larger room based PA systems that can become wearing over extended periods of time, especially in acoustically challenging spaces. The control system uses a web based platform which means you simply have to connect to the control racks built in wireless network, enter the IP address of the control unit and the control interface appears like a website. It can be controlled by any device and no software is required to be downloaded. Powerful technology, impactful results.

One of the coolest things about is the diversity in our work. Our technology is packaged for flexibility, scalability, redundancy and precision. Our team are masters in elevating human connection no matter the event. Last week alone, we provided event experiences for programming around AI at the ROUX Institute for Systems Engineering, a Human Resource Summit in New Hampshire, the Build Maine Awards with the Associated General Contractors of Maine, Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, David Sedaris, The US Army Field Band at Merrill Auditorium and Sean Kingston/NLE Choppa at Bowdoin College.

At we are always reviewing our systems and workflow. This could include ways to streamline operations, packaging equipment or simply trying to do right by the environment. Being mindful of our waste has us super excited about our recent transition. We have discussed moving to rechargeable batteries in the past, but the tech behind the options just hadn't made sense. The team recently dug back in and reviewed charge times, charge retention, battery memory, comparative testing against disposables as well as careful consideration around the workflows of charging, cycling and deploying on jobs. Ensuring the system was reliable for the long haul was critical. We have finally gone live and we could not be more excited about the reduction in waste and the success we have been having so far. Truly appreciate the team's dedication not only to the event experience that can be SEEN, but also to those that cannot!

The crew had a blast at Colby College earlier this week supporting a conversation with Children's Author Mo Willems. Mo shared his thoughts on passion, talent, creativity and connection. He provided insight as to how the shape and size of a book, colors used, font type, scale and rhythm all go into creating something brilliant. We supported the event with a detailed production advance, sound, lighting, live production switching/cameras, still photography/b-roll video services and graphics content. The outcome was an integrated, refined and elevated experience for all who were in-person as well as watching virtually. Thank you Colby for another great collaboration!

Board of Trustee Meetings with Colby College and WEX, Corporate Events with Hannaford and Renewal by Andersen, Venture Pitches at the ROUX Institute, Studio Work with Boulos Commercial Real Estate, Jazz at Lincoln Center, 360 Allstars, Jerry Seinfeld (this weekend) and the Portland Symphony Orchestra live score performance of Harry Potter. The diversity of our capabilities and partnerships is something we are very proud of and very thankful for!

We have been having an amazing winter so far at . Thankful to be busier than usual with a number of great events. This is also the time of year where we implement new technology, perform safety inspections and updates and review our internal systems and workflows. We are always questioning what, how and why we do what we do to ensure we are not only providing the best for our clients, but also for our teams success. One example of this is our microphone and DI storage solution. Mics were previously stored in individual bags and stacked into cubbies inside the cabinet. When prepping for a large event it became a cumbersome process to find and manage the right inventory. The team collaborated on ways to improve this process which was then designed, built and implemented. Other than the drawer slides, every piece was custom fabricated in house. We provided sound, lighting (including DMX synced LED bracelets for all in attendance) LED video and custom graphics creation. It was a great collaboration between AV Technik and L.L. Bean that ended with the ultimate disco party featuring Motor B***y Affair!

Another amazing year partnering with the Portland Symphony Orchestra for their Magic of Christmas Production. Special guests included The Portland Community Chorus, Susie Pepper, James Kennerley and many others. provided audio by DiGiCo and VUE Audiotechnik, lighting by ETC and Chauvet Professional and Technical Support of 11 concerts over the 2 week run. AV Technik Production Manager Nick Pires and LD Eric Lehmann collaborated closely with the PSO's production team and Lighting Designer Gregg Carville on the project. As part of our services, we produce a number of technical documents to ensure every detail is just right. if you attended, we hope you enjoyed the show!
