She remains one of the finest interpreters of music ever and she joins us this week to discuss her storied career including starting out on the chitlin circuit, her approach to making a song her own, and her association with Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker back in the day. We're so lucky she's still here, sounding great, and making new music!

The music world lost two rock stars from the MTV era. Greg Kihn from The Greg Kihn Band, which was all over MTV in the early 1980's with the legendary video for the single "Jeopardy" and Jack Russell the great lead singer of the late 1980's "hair metal" band Great White, which had hits like "Rock Me" and "Once Bitten, Twice Shy."

Tom & Zeus discuss their legacy and their impact on the guys.

Sad day in the rock world, but they both leave behind a lot of great music.

On this My Weekly Mixtape “Album Dive” episode, I am joined by modern blues artist Kevin Sonny Gullage to dig into the stories behind several songs from his debut album “Go Be Free” which is being released via Blind Pig.

We also talk about Sonny’s experience on Season 20 of American Idol, his family relation to blues/folk legend, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee “Lead Belly” Ledbetter; the music lineage in his family (Sister Alberta Gullage released gospel records for the Wajo label in the 1960’s and his father, Tony Gullage played bass for Dr. John, Henry Butler as well as other artists around the New Orleans music scene); working with Tom Hambridge on the writing & production of the album; recording with Christone “Kingfish” Ingram & the lesson he learned from the entire experience overall.
