What to know about the FTC ban:
1. Noncompetes restrain employees from seeking alternate employment or starting their own Biz.
2. Noncompetes have been shown to artificially suppress wages by locking up portions of the labor pool even when employees WANT to leave.
3. The ban will disallow all future noncompete agreements in employment.
4. FTC chair Lina Khan said “we heard from employees who, because of noncompetes, we’re stuck in abusive workplaces.”
5. The ban will retroactively nullify most
Noncompetes, except those for high-level, policy making executives earning at least $151, 164.
6. The US Chamber of Commerce and a coalition of other anti-worker interest groups have vowed to fight the ban, claiming it hurts businesses and (somehow) hurts employees.

Well that’s a bummer.

Workers need a new deal.
Decades of “Trickle Down” has proved conclusively that tax cuts and handouts for the rich does NOT create jobs. Companies don’t offer raises or hire more people simply because they got a tax refund.
They waste it on executive bonuses, stock buybacks, and since Citizens United, they blow BILLIONS lobbying against policies that could help millions of Americans.
It’s time for a new playbook. One that prioritizes human health and happiness over Wall Streets next earnings report.
Because wealth doesn’t trickle down, it flows UP!
Investing in working class people is an investment in a better, happier, and more prosperous future.

American policymakers suffer from tunnel vision. Their singular obsession with being “business friendly” at the expense of public services has steadily eroded our quality of life.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in the plight of teachers. If things don’t change soon, we may someday wake up and wonder “Where have all the teachers gone?”
They were chased out of classrooms by inadequate funding, low wages, unreasonable expectations, and inaction urgent on health and safety issues.
