Thankful to every single person who trusted me to tell their stories in Green Country. Christopher’s is one of my favorites 🥹

I can’t even begin to describe how this picture makes me feel.

One of the last stories I did in Tulsa was on Christopher Fort’s fight to get a kidney. Doctors gave him just months to live because Christopher desperately needed a transplant, but insurance wouldn’t let him get one in Oklahoma.

Last night, he ran into Andrejs Dabars — the photojournalist who helped me tell this story. Christopher, who’s wearing the cowboy hat, is alive and healthy. He told Dre that without that story, he didn’t think he would have been able to finally get his transplant this past fall. 🥹

15-year-old me would have never imagined I’d get to interview Austin Mahone!

This weekend he and other local entrepreneurs helped give over 200 gifts to San Antonio kids. Mahone, who grew up here, says it’s his way of giving back to the community that’s supported him.

For so many of my former colleagues and friends at KTUL, the past few days have been incredibly heartbreaking. In less than a month, upwards of 20 people will be without jobs.

It’s hard not to be hurt by this decision. Remember — local news matters.

GREEN COUNTRY FRIENDS: Remember Christopher Fort? He’s waiting for a kidney transplant out of state because he says his insurance wouldn’t let him get a kidney in Oklahoma because of a billing issue.

Now, he’s figuring out how to pay for out-of-pocket expenses related to his transplant process which he’s not having to travel to Dallas for. He estimates it could be close to $50,000.

"My biggest fear is my one of my kids getting hit." An east Tulsa neighbor says cars have run into her dad's yard FOUR TIMES. This last time, the driver left something behind.

Around 3,000 untested rape kits were in Tulsa police custody in 2017. So far, they say they've cleared about a third of them. Lt. Darin Ehrenrich with TPD's Special Victims Unit says federal grant money to test the kits has helped them solve cases that have long been cold, including a 2007 case with charges filed last Friday.
