Good morning. Here is a area map with estimated and reported rainfall totals for the past 5 days. In the San Angelo area, rainfall totals were generally in the 5-10 inch range. The highest recorded amounts were at a Mesonet site 7 miles northwest of San Angelo (9.95 inches), and from a CoCoRaHS site 2.4 miles west-northwest of Carlsbad (9.90 inches). Feel free to share your rainfall amounts as well.

The San Angelo Police Department would like to warn you about the city’s Low Water Crossing areas- they are becoming dangerous due to the storms. Please avoid traveling through these areas until the rain subsides and water has a chance to drain.

It is also good to always have a backup plan on how to arrive safely at your destination. Do not plan on your normal routes to be available at all times.

Remember, low water crossings can be dangerously deceiving.

“Turn Around – Don’t Drown”. Never drive on a road with water covering it and never drive around barriers blocking a flooded road or it just may cost you your life. Disregarding barricades in low water crossing areas where water is standing is a Class B Misdemeanor.

The Tom Green County Library System has joined the Family Place Libraries™ national network and will be opening our newly designed welcoming space for families with young children.
The new Parent-Child Workshops will provide an opportunity for local family-service agencies and professionals to help parents and caregivers of young children build foundations for early learning. There's lots of new, hands-on tools that will now be offered up in the centralized play area. We look forward to those workshops as early as next year.

Please join us for the re-opening of Stephens Central Children's Department on Monday, September 9th at 9am.

Explore our refreshed department, make new friends, and learn more about the Family Place Library. Refreshments will be served in the Children's Story Room.

Rain chances will increase starting tomorrow and continuing into early next week, including Labor Day. Heavy rainfall under scattered thunderstorms could produce isolated flooding each day. We're not expecting the whole of West Central Texas to get rainfall every day, but chances are good that most areas will see rain for at least one or two days during this period.

In case the news of cooler temperatures wasn't enough, we also have some chances for rain! An upper low will move onto the Middle Texas Coast and into our area Monday, increasing moisture and rain chances, mainly for areas south of I-20 through at least mid-week. Activity likely won't be as widespread as we would like but any chances for rain are better than none!
