🖤 This song has been stuck in my head for days. “We’re All Alone” made famous by Rita Coolidge.
🎙 My last live hit. Today was my last day on the air with KUER 90.1 NPR Utah.🙏🏼 I’m leaving because new commitments don’t allow me to continue to fill in. It has been a career highlight to host news on the radio during the last year.
It has been an honor to accompany Utahns on their morning and evening commutes, and throughout the workday, on the station I grew up listening with my dad on the way to school.
It has been an honor to learn from the hosts, producers, and managers I’ve had the privilege to work with. It has been awesome to return to the campus of my alma mater, the University of Utah after 12 years. 🙌🏼
I believe in NPR and KUER is worthy of its founding member status. A hard-working team that covers stories you don’t find elsewhere. The nicest group of journalists I’ve ever encountered. Stay with KUER!
🎙 Always an honor to fill in at our local NPR station. Hard to believe tomorrow will be 20 years since the attacks of September 11th. 🙏🏼🇺🇸
I was in the 9th grade at the time. 90.1 KUER NPR Utah will air live coverage tomorrow from 6-10am and then again at 4pm. With the Afghanistan withdrawal, it’s on everyone’s minds, but so many have lived with the aftermath every single day for the last twenty years.
My thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones and all those whose lives were forever changed on that horrific day, some of whom I have the honor to know. 🙏🏼
🎙I filled in and hosted ALL local newscasts and breaks during Morning Edition for the first time on 90.1 KUER NPR Utah today! 🤗 I had done a couple hours two weeks ago. It was a privilege to accompany Utahns as they woke up and went about their day! 🚗 I was at work in the 4AM hour, so I did not get much sleep, but I throughly enjoyed it. There’s something about the morning news.☀️ The Pioneer Day parade, Utah’s state holiday, was held this morning so we talked about that, flash floods, and more. 📰
🎙I hosted Morning Edition for the first time this morning. 👏🏼 A full circle moment for me because when our dad would drive us to school, 🚘 we would listen to Morning Edition on this NPR station. 📻
I filled in this morning for local news and breaks on the local NPR station from 6AM to 8AM. I have been filling in for the last three months and have now hosted every local newscast and break possible from 6AM to 10PM. 🤗
I also shadowed one of my college professors when he was the local Morning Edition host at this station. Grateful for the opportunity. 🙏🏼
🎙 We got to a high of 107 today, it was 106 degrees while I was on the air today!!! 🥵 Today is a tie for the hottest day ever recorded in Salt Lake City. 😮 Over the last ten days, I’ve spent 30 hours in the chair hosting local news and weather breaks on 90.1 KUER NPR Utah. 🎙Truly an honor to accompany and inform our listeners at different hours of the day. 😯 Challenging and fun… the interesting thing is your alone in master control, but it’s really rewarding being that local voice chiming in and being with our listeners amid the network NPR lineup. Filling in doesn’t just require speaking, 🎙 which obviously is extremely important, but you also write, ✍🏼 stack or organize your newscast rundown, you are backtiming your breaks, ⏰ you are playing background music or music beds, 🎶 and firing off sponsors cued in on the software. It’s a lot, but it’s really fun. And keeps your mind sharp! 🙏🏼
I’m filling in on the air at KUER NPR Utah all this week. Hosting local newscasts on All Things Considered through Wednesday evening, covering the midday shift Thursday and Friday.
Tonight, we reported on plans for LDS (Mormon) General Conference, FEMA fire funding, the latest on Dixie State’s name change, and more.
Oh, and I did traffic for the first time.

A clip of my appearance on Argentina’s Televisión Pública early this morning talking about COVID vaccinations in the US. My experience, how it’s going nationally, and the pharmacy rollout.
Un minuto de mi intervención en Televisión Pública Argentina esta mañana hablando de la implementación de la vacuna y de las últimas cifras de contagios y hospitalizaciones acá en EEUU.
Siempre un gusto hablar con Natalia Paratore.
In my opening remarks for the Utah Latino Business Expo, I spoke about our state’s growing Latino population and what makes the state so business friendly. Utah has been on Forbes top ten lists as one of the best states to do business for the last decade, ranked #1 in 2018. Utah has the fourth most diverse economy in the country, our tech industry Silicon Slopes is booming.
But I also addressed how badly the Latino community has been hit by COVID and the fact we have very little representation in Utah’s Capitol Hill.
Latinos make up 14% of Utah's population, but we only have one Latina in the State Senate and one Latina in the State House. We only have a 1.9% representation at the Utah State Capitol, none in Washington. And they're Democrats which in this very Republican State Legislature makes their jobs very difficult.
Part of the low number may be because we are younger than the general population, but certainly there are enough Latinos old enough and who are engaged in the community who need to run and get elected... this needs to change.
It helps explain why we're only 14% of the population yet 34.6% of all COVID-19 cases in the state.
I was live on C5N, Argentina’s number-one news channel, reporting outside the Clark County Election Center in Las Vegas where about one hundred Trump supporters gathered.
Fue un honor reportar antes que saliera el gran Carlos Montero en cámara!
