One-Handed Witch is an award-winning silent film with shadow puppets and live musical score performed by a band of witches. Synopsis? A fiery witch loses her hand to an angry mob, tames wild beasts in the forest, and starts hustling small town folk and casinos out of all their money, with one hand.
The tale of savagery and survival that is One-Handed Witch was written, directed and scored by Samson Y Hiss with shadow puppets and film production by Rita Deiola and Sara Draghi in Italy. It is a collaboration of film, shadow puppets and live music. Ssssssss.

The Salem Fire Department will "soak the kids" at Forest River Park, Collins Cove and Salem Common Tuesday through Thursday this week.

Please stay cool the next few days!!!

The national weather service has issued an extreme heat warning for our region for the next several days - please limit your outside activities during the daytime hours and exercise care during these extreme conditions - children and pets must not be left in vehicles for any length of time. Please check on your family, friends and neighbors, especially the elderly, and if you need any assistance contact public safety on the non-emergency line at 978-744-1212.

For those who need a place to cool off, please note the following options:

*The Mayor Jean Levesque Community Life Center at 401 Bridge Street is opening for extended hours this week from today (Monday) through Thursday from 8:00am through 8:00pm;
*The Fire Department has scheduled several “Soak The Kids” events. Beginning tomorrow (Tuesday, 7/16) at Forest River Park at 11:00am and then at Collins Cove Playground at 1:30pm, then Wednesday, 7/17 at 1:30pm at the Salem Common, and on Thursday, 7/18 at Forest River Park at 11:00am and at 1:00pm at Collins Cove, the Fire Department will spray down attendees with fire hoses;
*The Forest River Pool is open Tues, Thurs and Friday from 1:00-6:00pm and Wed from 2:00-6:00pm;
*All splash pads are open;

Please try and stay cool this week!

FIRE TRUCK COOLING EVENT (EDIT- PLEASE NOTE LOCATION CHANGE - THIS WILL HAPPEN AT FOREST RIVER PARK):

Due to the high anticipated temperatures for this week, the Salem Fire Department will be at Forest River Park tomorrow (Wednesday, June 19) at 1:00pm to turn on the fire hoses and spray down any kids and families who want to cool down! All are welcome.
