"This post is about the kinds of books for the kids who liked Bunnicula but couldn’t even bring themselves to open Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, because the one time you did, just barely wide enough to read one tiny little bit, this one random story about Death coming to some gardener guy shook you to your core, so you left it and its creepy skull cover down on the bottom shelf where it belonged until your mom had you go through your stuff and figure out what to send to Goodwill. Hypothetically, of course."

"Let’s get to our books for this week: One good book, nearly as old as roleplaying games themselves, one bad book, with characters so flat they make paper look 3 dimensional, and one wild book that’s been in progress for longer than some of you have been alive."

"As the token Humanities major friend in every group of STEM majors, let me just say that there are few things that annoy me more than authors completely failing to write intelligent characters. How bad is it? Let me tell you."

"This series contains easily one of my favorite retellings of Little Red Riding as well as a solid exploration of interpersonal relationships that give the whole series a lot of heart. If you’re looking for a story that is essentially Once Upon a Time—but good—this is the one for you."

"As someone who reads way too much, I always have the holds on my library card maxed out and with Libby wait times what they are these days, I end up reading a lot of random books that just happen to be available. Some of them are great, some of them are terrible, and some of them are straight up wild. This leads to a lot of, shall we say, interesting, rants that my roommates are forced to listen to. So why not share my poor literary decisions with the internet at large?"

Explore the depths of Libby with our Editor-in-chief Phoebe English in this new series of book reviews, including a review of Tyler Whitesides' The Thousand Deaths of Ardor Benn!
