Hamoody Jaafar is a Detroit-based commercial and narrative film director driven by a desire to challenge stereotypes within our culture and tell underrepresented stories. With realism, minority experiences, and mental health at the forefront of his passions, Jaafar credits his upbringing in working-class suburbs just outside of Detroit for exposing him to a spectrum of socioeconomic, racial, and religious experiences that further nurtured his commitment to dynamic storytelling.
New work out now from Tibbs' Director Oksana Mirzoyan.
"Since I was sixteen, I would take long drives in Detroit. It was my meditation. When I watched the city through the frame of the windshield, it inspired and continues to inspire me. For this piece, I wanted to take the audience on a drive with me.”

Cats and cars. Another fun one with a great crew in the Music City.
Grandpa, Love you.
In a metro-Detroit hospital bed lies a perfectly healthy 60-something-year-old actor, behind him a film crew hurrying to light and complete the martini shot of our most recent project. But even further behind them, on a small table in the corner of the room with little to no chance of ever being in the frame, I found a card - “Grandpa, Love you.”
Written only slightly more legibly than my 5-year-old, but not much; I picked up the card and asked our prop master, Andrew Katz, where the card came from. A huge “big-Kat” smile stretched across his face; he casually said, “you like that?” Yeah, what’s up with it? He tells me that his wife/art partner Jess made it late last night before the shoot day - wrote it with her left hand to make it look like a child was really pulling for their grandpa.
It sorta blew me away.
I love the teams we work with. I love coming across talented artists who gel, collaborate, elevate, and have fun/grind on set. Everyone goes the extra mile in their own way, and I’m positive team Wild-Katz (Jess and Andrew) have made a hundred other minor artistic contributions over the years that have added to the major outcome of a project. But this is the one I found and plan to keep on my desk to remind myself of the power of collaboration and to go the extra mile - it’ll also serve as a very confusing conversation starter for anyone who comes in and sees it… Grandpa, Love you.
Welcome Hamoody Jaafar to the Tibbs team.
Real people are the inspiration for Hamoody's work.
Hamoody Jaafar is a first-generation Arab & Muslim-American with hometown roots in the diverse community of Detroit. Growing up, he was exposed to a variety of people and cultures.
Hamoody's goal is to use storytelling to bridge gaps and shed light on people rather than stereotypes by telling authentic, human stories.

Chapter 1/4 - Adrienne Bennett - New work out today from Amara Untermeyer. The power of storytelling and commercial advertising intersects with the 'Ford, Women Who Power America Forward' campaign. Adrienne Bennett was the first African American female master plumber in America; now, she's helping turn the historic Michigan Central train station into an automotive innovation hub. A huge thanks to our clients who placed value in these narratives and the confidence in Tibbs to capture them, a rockin' Detroit-based crew, and the hero talent that made telling these stories possible.
New work out now from Tibbs director Amara Untermeyer. Albeit in the wake of a global pandemic, this production truly embodies the ethos that the Tibbs brand was built on. Amara brought real families together, to film real experiences between them, and cinematographer Bruce Francis Cole captured it all beautifully. A huge thanks to a forward-thinking client, powerhouse agency, really-real quarantined cast, and many familiar crew faces which we hadn’t seen in far too long. Stay safe everyone, and keep creating.
Out now, chapter 2 of the Ford - Back to Work series - "PPE ". In this chapter, we detailed the new protocol employees will be taking to ensure a safe working environment as things get back up and running. Our approach to this piece was entertaining yet educational - snappy camera moves, animated supers, a glass mannequin head on a turntable, and some fun music cues helped us deliver the message.
A few months back, we travelled to Seattle to film a piece on an amazing contemporary artist, James Kroner. We wanted to learn more about his craft, and what he's searching for in a landscape. It was inspiring to watch his patience and vision come to life on the canvas. While everyone's life is somewhat paused from the daily grind, it seemed like a fitting time to share this piece that focuses on the struggle of needing to create vs the patience to find inspiration.
