COMING THIS OCTOBER: Baby Girl is due on my grandmother’s 91st birthday 💞
Wanted to share what brought a smile to my face at Noon today…
Ticks!
We followed along with the Allegheny County Health Department as they collected ticks in Highland Park. Look how many we found doing a 100 yard tick drag.
“They’re about the size of a poppyseed,” said Allegheny County Health Department Vector Control Specialist Nick Baldauf. “These are the ones typically responsible for Lyme disease. They'll be out May, June & July, but the size is what makes them dangerous.”

On Wednesday morning, I was out on a walk with my dog and fiancé when we saw all this police activity on Smithfield Street around 6:30 am.
Obviously the first question that pops into your mind is: What’s going on?
I reached out to Pittsburgh Regional Transit and Pittsburgh Public Safety on Wednesday. No response. The next day I forwarded my email to them again and received a reply.
After a little back and forth, I received this response from PRT: “There was a call for a disorderly person. They were combative so the officer called for backup, hence why there are so many officers there. No arrests were made.”
Pittsburgh police said: “We don’t have any information about the specific situations you describe.”
After those responses, I had several more questions.
But the other BIG question and maybe the more important question: What’s the solution to the other noticeable issues captured in this video?

A block away from where I recorded this video is Mellon Square Park. Liz Kilmer WPXI put together this story on Mellon Square after the CEO of the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy sent an email to city leaders for help cleaning up what she called grotesque and unsafe conditions in Mellon Square Park.
“This city is the hub for Western PA. We need this city to thrive. We need to clean it up. The city of Pittsburgh needs to do that. I believe that Mayor Gainey will take the necessary steps to do,” said Pittsburgh Councilman Anthony Coghill. “It’s a difficult problem, as we all know, but we are making strides toward it so with any luck Pittsburgh will bounce back.”
