Hey there Dreamers,
Nick here, long time, no post. I wanted to take some time to give yinz all an update on the future.
Since March of 2020 Sinister Dream Productions, LLC has been dissolved, though the company itself is dissolved I was planning on continuing to produce films under the Sinister Dream name, but as time has progressed I’ve come to realize the name holds a lot of baggage for me. When I see the name “Sinister Dream Productions” now I don’t smile, I don’t have good thoughts associated with it.
Since 2018 I’ve been struggling with creative burn out, I wrote a blog post about it which you can read it on my website's blog (you can just google "Nick Kizina" it should come up, I wanted to include the link in the body of the text, but can't link more than one website at a time), which goes into greater detail than I’ll go in with this post. When I see the Sinister Dream name it is a reminder of those anxiety filled nights, wondering why I don’t give a s**t anymore, why my creative drive is non existent.
So it’s with a heavy heart I’m officially closing the book on the Sinister Dream chapter of my creative life. It sadly has been a long time coming. It has been slowly been falling away from existence with us folding of the Sinister DreamCast Network, me pressing pause on filmmaking, and just in-general not using the Sinister Dream name when I did something creative.
I loved this company, it was a huge part of my life for over ten years. Hell, the Rorschach logo is part of one of my tattoos, but it is time to lay it to rest.
For now I’m focusing on podcasting as the backbone of my creative endeavors. The podcast which replaced Sinister DreamCast, The Geeky Nerd Podcast, is going to be the first step in getting back on my feet creatively.
I’ve launched a Patreon, which I’m sharing with this post, in an effort to do creative projects full time, be it writing, filmmaking, producing, or podcasting. I have some really great tiers which I’m proud of. I’m working towards not having a survival job to support me and support myself with what is really the only job I’ll actually be happy doing, being a storyteller.
I will be making films again, I have a bunch of short film scripts, and two features which I want to make. Right now I’m going to be laying the groundwork for my filmmaking with this Patreon so I don’t need to ask people to do these things in their spare time and/or for free. I’ll be making films under a different name, which I hope to announce soon.
Thank you to everyone who supported Sinister Dream for all these years, I love, respect, and appreciate you; I hope you’ll join me as I continue to find my place and reestablish my voice post burnout.
Thank you for taking the time to read all of this.
The sinister dream isn’t dead it’s just transformed into something new.
