My daughter Amber and I created Goudelock and the 3 Bears Publishing to help advocate early literacy. Our children’s publications reflect diversity that is lacking in children’s media.
When our children can read, they can do and become everything.

Literature and art literally saved my life. I fell in love with reading at a very early age. My mother nurtured that love for me.. At the age of 5 my mother would have me read her astrological forecasts from the newspaper to her as we had breakfast in the mornings before school and work. She would purchase books for me and allow me to participate in book fairs at school. When my daughter was born I encouraged her to read. I encouraged her to ask questions and to find as many answers for herself that she could. Amber is an award winning research scientist, a cardiologist and assistant professor at the University of Chicago. Amber is co-founder of Goudelock and the 3 Bears Publishing and also writes children’s literature. We now share our love of reading with her 2 daughters.

With our flagship book series The Adventure of Maxine and Beanie (Maxineandbeanie.com) we have created “PAWS” (TM) that allows children to fully participate and engage in our books. Our PAWS (TM) journals allow children to create and use their imaginations.
