You can help support Ethel in getting out our behemoth issue 11! From Sara's fundraising post:

Ok, to be honest, running a micro press by oneself is difficult in many respects, but most recently my struggles have been with selling enough copies of books to keep the press running. I don't receive any funding from anywhere except through sales of books and subscriptions and sometimes my own money--but with a recent move to a different state, I've been struggling to find a job making enough money to even support myself. Ethel 11 is especially expensive because I send out a free contributor copy to every contributor, and this issue is really long, so printing and mailing contributor copies will be challenging.

Congratulations to Issam, whose chapbook will be released from Ethel soon, and whose full-length collection Unceded Land will be published by Trio House Press in 2022!!!

Trio House Press welcomes Issam Zineh
Trio Award Finalist for Unceded Land

Issam Zineh is a Palestinian-American poet and scientist. He is author of Unceded Land (forthcoming, Trio House Press), which was a finalist for the Trio Award for first or second book, and the chapbook The Moment of Greatest Alienation (Ethel, 2021). His poems often engage with territory as both demarcated physical and psychological spaces and explore associated concepts: boundaries, identity, power, subjugation, resistance, and reconciliation. Much of his current work contends with the politics of place and accounts for the marks of the past in poems that tangle with love and intimacy. The son of immigrants, he was born in Los Angeles and has lived in New England, the Mid-Atlantic, and Southern U.S. He currently lives on the ancestral homeland of the Paskestikweya people. His poems appear or are forthcoming in AGNI, Pleiades, Ni**od, Tahoma Literary Review, Tinderbox Poetry Journal, Glass: A Journal of Poetry (Poets Resist), Poet Lore, and elsewhere. Find him at issamzineh.com or on Twitter .

About Ethel

Ethel climbs a tree alone in the dark where she makes bird noises and thinks about small animals.

Once, Ethel’s friend Joanna predicted a surprise hairdo. After that, that friend, Joanna Penn Cooper, came up with the idea to make Ethel into a zine. Joanna is an editor-at-large and a moral support expert. Many years ago, she was an Ian Curtis look-alike.

Sara Lefsyk, whose name is not Ethel, handmade each copy of Ethel. Therefore, she is a cosmic seamstress, a secret editor, and the recipient of the surprise hairdo predicted by Joanna.
