Wainscot Media Wainscot Media is a full-service communications company specializing in print and digital content. Its oldest publication, Bergen Health & Life, began in 2001.

While Wainscot Media was incorporated as a new company in 2006, its roots go back further. At that time, it was published by Dowden Health Media, a company founded in 1988 by the father/son team of Carroll and Mark Dowden. A year after selling Dowden Health Media in 2005, the Dowden family bought back one of Dowden’s four divisions and housed it in a new company called Wainscot. That acquisition o

f four consumer magazine titles was the base from which Wainscot has grown over the subsequent five years to a company with more than 20 magazine titles, seven web sites, and two annual events, plus other activities such as custom publishing and social media marketing communications programs for clients.

Wainscot is honored to be the recipient of four prizes in the 20th Annual Service Industry Advertising (SIA) Awards, which recognizes the best content and advertising campaigns in the service industry.

A national panel of judges evaluated and rated some 1,200 entries in eight groups and 45 categories, evaluating each for ex*****on, creativity, quality, consumer appeal and overall breakthrough advertising content. Wainscot took gold, silver and bronze in the retail publication category for our work on Garmany of Red Bank , Hamilton Jewelers and Bachendorf's , respectively, and received bronze in the healthcare publication category for our work on Morris|Essex Health & Life Magazine.

✨ What are you most proud of as an artist?

“I would say at this point, it’s my determination. Being a woman of color, I’ve been tempted to stop or give up. It would have been easy to quit. But I didn’t, and part of it is because I’m stubborn. It’s helped me not let temporary setbacks become permanent regrets. I’ve never been more thankful that I didn’t let myself give up.”

“I think imagination is so important, and art is the way to get imagination out for other people to see...”
