Enjoyed speaking with and having these fine young students in the shop yesterday. They were brought in to observe the final tweaks on the feature documentary, our Movement Begin Here and to learn a little about audio post-production for film. I’ll be helping them out with their student films, in the near future. Although it was over 30 years ago, it seems only a short time ago that I was one of them. Love passing on knowledge to the younguns…..

To my music community.....check this out. If any of you are interested in experiencing your music in an immersive format (Dolby Atmos), hit me up. I'm temporarily offering discounted rates for a few projects, just to introduce more people to what's possible. Not exactly sure what the "reward" is at this point, but it's certainly an opportunity to offer your audience something different, whether it's re-mixing some back catalog stuff or mixing in Atmos from the beginning. Some of the classical projects I've done are simply stunning in this format. Even the 2.0 binaural re-renders are pretty mind blowing and a lot of clients are digging those over the straight 2.0 downmix. I can't wait to try my hand at some EDM mixes. It's pretty cool technology that's now accessible to everyone, whether you're listening on Airpods or a full surround system. Holla.....

Getting excited, gearing up for the Oxford Film Festival this weekend and we help kick it off with Thacker Mountain Radio at The Lyric this Thursday @ 6pm. I’m also stoked that Taproot Audio Design has not only one, but FIVE films in the lineup this year for which we’ve done the audio post-production. One short narrative comedy/thriller called Coup De Grace. One feature documentary called Two Lives In Photography featuring photographer couple Maude Schuyler and Langdon Clay. One short documentary, Heartbreak Henry: The Show Must Go On, featuring comedy writer David Sheffield (SNL, Coming To America, The Nutty Professor) and two short music docs featuring singer/songwriter Andrew Bryant and punk rockers Big Clown. Had fun working on this trailer, trying to match up the narrator’s voice to the original 1978 voice actor. Pulled a few rarely used tricks out of the ol’ mojo bag. This weekend and Halloween only! We don’t have any Regal theaters near us or I’d go check out this special release. I’ve never seen the original, so I may have to rent it for tomorrow. “When there’s no more room in hell, the dead shall walk the earth”.
