Whether you received new graces at the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, were blessed to join the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage, deepened your participation in the Mass at your home parish, or found increased faith in the Real Presence of Jesus during this past year, it’s time to take what you have received and to share it. It’s time for this movement to spread outward. It's time to set our communities ablaze with Eucharistic love. It's time to point the world to the true source of its satisfaction!

ONE Lord.
ONE Church.
ONE Hour.
WALK WITH ONE.

Saint Francis de Sales School for Pastoral Ministry (SPM) aids the formation of the Faithful of the Diocese of Oakland to help them realize the universal call to holiness. Centered on the constitutions of the Second Vatican Council and shaped by the vision of Pope Francis for the New Evangelization, this integrated set of courses is newly designed to form students to be “missionary disciples.” It provides formation in Christ-centered spirituality and prayer, a style of teaching that flows from and inspires transformation in Christ, and a missionary outlook focused on witnessing to the Gospel within our families, parishes, and the wider world.

“The joy of love experienced by families is also the joy of the Church,” proclaims Pope Francis.

Thus, in celebration of the love found in marriage and family, we, the Catholic bishops of California, are overjoyed to introduce ‘Radiate Love’ – a new initiative to encourage and inspire marriage. We are embarking on this journey over the next year to celebrate and support marriage and family life among the flock God has entrusted to us.

Archbishop Charles Thompson of Indianapolis celebrated Youth Mass at the Indianapolis Convention Center on Saturday morning.

His message to the youth: You are not the future of the Church. You are the present. “We need your energy and your gifts now,” he said.

Father Michael Nufable, Father Erick Villa and Father Mark Wiesner of the Diocese of Oakland were among the concelebrants.

Saturday morning in Noblesville, Indiana: The Diocese of Oakland pilgrims make their way to the two buses that will carry them to Indianapolis to begin an eventful day with the National Eucharistic Congress. This afternoon, they will take their place in line to join the Eucharistic Procession through the streets of downtown Indianapolis. (One of the buses is used by a college sports team when it’s not carrying pilgrims!)

Among the memorable moments for the more than 100 pilgrims from the Diocese of Oakland attending the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis was the rare opportunity to wish our Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ a happy birthday. The surprise cake came a few days after the birthday but the wishes were genuine indeed.

The 10th National Eucharistic Congress kicked off Wednesday night at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis with the arrival of the perpetual pilgrims from the four routes across the United States.
The pilgrims of the western route, known as the St. Junipero Serra Route, entered the stadium first, carrying an image of St. Serra. Their journey began in San Francisco, lasted 60 days and covered more than 2,200 miles. Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ of the Diocese of Oakland blessed the Serra Route pilgrims at Solemn Vespers at Mission Dolores Basilica the night before they departed.
See stories from the Diocese of Oakland delegation as the Congress continues over the next four days.
