In episode 17 of The Exit Strategy, we have Charles Bennett, an adjunct professor of leadership and executive coach. He has taught the topic of leadership for many years and expresses how its definition differs.
Charles Bennett clearly identifies how leadership styles differ in the USA vs. France, and Charles goes through his experience of working at Cartier in North America and France, and despite it being the same company, the leadership was quite different. Charles believes that leadership is and could be a title but at times a leader rises to the occasion, and that leader could be more impactful.
Leadership in the USA is seen as you either have it or you don’t but in France leadership is bestowed and granted to the person. Swatick discusses his experience dealing with leadership in India, and how leadership was less delegated compared to the USA and especially France. Ralph, being one of the founders of Chatsworth, has seen how leadership has changed significantly since the foundation of the organization.
Elon must is a great example of how you could be in the same country, start SpaceX, and Tesla, and become the leader of Twitter, and what skills are important in leadership in various industries even within the same country.
Charles working at the greatest educational intuitions in France sees how leadership changes through going through educational training and implementing those skills in real-life situations providing confidence by putting the mirror in front of them to honor and own the success of their careers.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled almost 900 points on Thursday, putting U.S. stocks on track for their worst day in three months, as investors digested tough talk from the Federal Reserve on inflation that revived concerns about a potential U.S. recession. With the rise of interest rates, we have witnessed a massive slowdown in funding in the technology sector as investors have more options to invest in risk-free market assets as they take a step back from the volatile stock market. Updates on what we can expect in the coming year.

Episode 14, we just put out an article with over 350 pickups across the globe, talking about what we expect in 2023. We believe that that market is prime for the strong. Europe is showing signs of weakness and we are firm believers that EU markets should be seeking capital from the United States because there is capital seeking European investments. There is always a bull market, and we attempt to point this out because despite local markets being weak in Europe, the investable market in the United States is 10x larger than in terms of GDP. What is driving Technology company success and customer experience is the most powerful driver. The conclusion is that founders must understand that when the market is hot and you have more than one bonafide offer, take it because the market is telling you your price. Founders that start a , build it, exit and develop a track record are the most powerful CEOs in the market.

If you were to buy a fund that is the bottom 50% of Sequoia’s investments — you would almost certainly have negative returns. If you want to mirror Sequoia, it’s extremely important that you get into their best investments. Their best investments don’t do bridge rounds. So the very act of buying up all of Sequoia’s (or A16Z’s, Founders Fund’s, etc.) bridge rounds is an exercise in adverse selection. As a whole, you’re going to buy an index of their money-losing investments.
