We will explore The South Bronx during different eras, through photographs, drawings etc. We hope this collection will entertain others as much as it has us in creating it. We originally started this page to share our history and as a way for us to remember our earlier days of growing up in The South Bronx. We did it more for our love of where we grew up and because we have grown to love the histo

rical value of where we came from. We’ve always been a fan of black and white photos and the medium itself. We never could have imagined so many people would also enjoy the photographs and like our page. We now have thousands of photos found throughout the internet and shared with us by our fans. We have, in a sense, become a living archive, filled with people sharing their unique knowledge, history and stories about their lives, along with the curious and those who want to learn more about our history during the years when The Bronx was burning and how we survived it all. This is exactly what we had envisioned becoming. Hopefully people can use it as a basis for knowledge, to learn from and enjoy the historical as well as artistic value of the collection. This is all we wished for. We do not own the photos we only share them. Please enjoy the page, thank you for your participation and continued support.

Be encouraged! Trust God and seek His wisdom. And continue to trust Him through all your difficult experiences. Don’t blame Him for anything. The Star Theatre was located at 960 Southern Boulevard, Bronx, NY 10459 between 163rd Street, Westchester Ave and West Farms Rd. It opened in 1912 with 1 screen and 600 seats. During the 70’s it was the spot to pay-one-price for 3 karate films and a great way to spend Saturday’s in air conditioning during hot summers! 😎

My life story in a poem, and the inspiring words and events that ultimately led me to writing about my South Bronx journey in, “Fighting Through The Hurdles of My Life” 📖❤️🥊🥊

Below is a brief bio about the author’s life story and journey:

Roberto Alfaro is also a retired, decorated Hartford CT Police Officer, with 21 years of dedicated service to his community. In addition, he is also a SAG/AFTRA Actor and Professional Model of over 30 years, a writer of dozens of poems and short stories, a Motivational Speaker, an Inventor, a Salsa dancer and instructor, a former Body Building Champion and Personal Trainer, a Hartford Mounted Police Rider and Instructor, an author of two books. And finally, In 2014 he had the honor of being inducted as a “Hamden Notables”, a "who’s who" of Hamden, CT."

His book, "Fighting Through The Hurdles of My Life captures Roberto Alfaro’s inspiring story of survival, heartbreak, redemption, and ultimately beating the odds in a way that no one expected. From growing up poor in one of the worst drug and gang-infested neighborhoods of the South Bronx during the ’60s and ’70s, to battling with bouts of bullying at school and domestic violence at home. Before long, Roberto soon went from this extremely shy kid, to a troubled young man who suddenly found himself going down the wrong path.

Read how this amazing young man somehow managed to turn his life around, and ultimately went on to become an inspiration to so many by sharing his remarkable journey. His tenacity in pushing himself beyond the expectations of others makes him a true example of someone who never stopped believing in himself and his personal mantra: “No dream is too big to dream!”
Today, he continues to share his amazing story and journey, in hopes of making a difference in the life of others, while encouraging them to “Never Stop Dreaming!”
