Travis Kelce follows along with the joke after Patrick Mahomes' behind-the-back pass

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes proved once again why they are one of the most prolific duos in the NFL right now after a play that seemed destined to fail but it didn't. What happened? Patrick Mahomes said his play and Travis Kelce didn't seem to understand what he said. As a result, there was an improvised pass behind the back that Kelce just managed to catch after reading the moment and his quarterback's intentions. After the game that the Kansas City Chiefs lost against the Detroit Lions, Mahomes wanted to hint that the moment was planned but he was just messing around. He ultimately agreed it was completely improvised. Given that the moment was more of a blooper than an actual play, Travis Kelce wanted to get in on the joke.

At the end of the day, Mahomes did blame Travis for not running the play he was supposed to run but Kelce excused himself with a joke against his quarterback. During the play, you can hear Patrick mahomes yelling at Trais for not doign what he asked and he eentually threw the ball behind his back. But slick Travis has such sharp reflexes that he managed to catch that ball and run a couple of yards before the tackle. Travis said: "You know he's got the Kermit the Frog voice there, so he kinda mumbled out the play and i couldn't hear him. I was walking up to the line trying to descipher what he was saying. Before I knew it he snapped the ball. I kinda saw it out of my peripheral and he was already throwing the ball like a photo on a sports car throwing the ball to me. I guess it was right place at the right time."

But these moments of connection will become even more evident between these two as the season begins and they warm up far more than right now. As we speak, the Kansas City Chiefs are currently on the road to get in proper shape for the new season. Many players have been preparing for what's coming but none of them is at 100% fitness just yet. These pre-season games are prfect to get them as ready as possible for week 1 of the NFL.

Jason Kelce and his wife Kylie Kelce have a relationship that the entire NFL relates to. How they raise their three children in the midst of all the attention they get is noteworthy. Since retiring, the former Philadelphia Eagles center has been spending more time with his family, which has helped the two grow their relationship as a power couple and parents.

However, Jason Kelce is starting his life as a part of the NFL Monday Night Countdown show. Kylie Kelce though, is excited for her husband as she revealed in her interview with People magazine.

I am mostly excited to see Jason excel in a new position. I jokingly say it's a pain in the b**t that he's good at everything, and I know I'm biased in that. He will work, endlessly and tirelessly to tackle his new position and excel. I'm really excited to get to watch him do that.

She knows him inside out and has seen his competitive drive that will push him to do his best. Kylie knows that it will not be long before he excels in his new job.

She has seen him excel at his previous job with the Philadelphia Eagles and is excited as he will most likely do the same at ESPN. This job will keep his mind working at all times. A few days ago, when Patrick Mahomes tried out the behind-the-back pass in training, it was merely a foreshadow of the things to come in the future. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback proved he can also do it during an NFL game.

Around the 6-minute mark in the first quarter, the Chiefs had the ball near the 3rd and 3 inside the Detroit Lions half. After taking the snap, Mahomes faked a layoff to rookie running back Carson Steele and checked back for a free receiver.

However, Mahomes pulled off the unthinkable. He saw Travis Kelce wide open just ahead of the line of scrimmage and threw a behind-the-back pass.

Travis Kelce had the honor of receiving the first-ever behind-the-back pass from Patrick Mahomes at an official pre-season game. To the naked eye, it seemed the move was premeditated by the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, but was it really? Kelce provided the answer.

According to the All-Pro tight end, he wasn’t aware or ready for Mahomes to throw a pass to him because it was not the plan. He saw the 28-year-old yelling at him, but he could not make out because of his raspy voice and the arrowhead crowd screaming at the top of their lungs.

Kelce just ran into the free space vacated by the Detroit Lions offensive line as Mahomes improvised the throw. Later, when the NFL Network’s 4th-best player was asked about the move, he put Kelce on the pedestal by saying the 34-year-old forgot to run his intended route. Kelce, on the other hand, blamed it on Mahomes’ voice.

You know his got the voice thing [tried to imitate Patrick Mahomes’ voice]. So he kinda mumbled down the play I couldn’t hear, so I was walking out to the line and tried to decipher what he was saying.
