“WE INVITE THE BALLROOM COMMUNITY TO SUBMIT FOR THE UPCOMING DEVELOPMENT PROJECT OF 'CATS' IN NEW YORK CITY.

This is for a workshop of the radical reimagining of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s dance musical CATS; INSPIRED BY THE PAGEANT COMPETITIONS OF NEW YORK CITY'S BALLROOM CULTURE.

Performers contracted will work Tuesday, October 3, through Saturday, October 14, 2023 and be paid $815 weekly minimum (W2).

This is a workshop that will lead to a full production.

NYC Ballroom community members encouraged to submit via this open form.

SEEKING SINGERS AND VOCALISTS FROM THE BALLROOM COMMUNITY, ANY GENDER IDENTITY AND TRANS/NON-BINARY.

Casting Directors  and  will check daily for submissions. We recommend submitting by August 27, 2023 to be considered for the workshop.

💙💙💙 “I want my kids to see themselves. I want them to be able to look in the mirror and really know who they are. And I’m not saying they are going to know today. It’s really so hard in this world when you’re trying to look at somebody and compare yourself to them. I don’t want my kids to be in that space where they are comparing themselves. I know it’s one of the hardest things because we all do, but ever since they were young, we do affirmations every night. We’ve been doing this with our kids for a long time because we want them to see themselves, their beauty, their greatness, and their strengths. And understand what they can accomplish without the world saying, “You can’t do this” or, “You should be this.” I’m always sharing with them those things, because I’ve learned how to do that, as someone who’s been in the public eye. I’ve learned how to just really look in the mirror and focus on the person who’s looking back at me. I know that if I take care of him, everything else will be taken care of. I can focus on what nobody else is doing or thinking. I can be inspired by what someone else is doing, look at it and learn lessons, but I can’t be that person. So to me, that’s the message I’m always sending my kids: Focus on you, and think about what you want to be and how you want to be it.” - Wade Davis: Hall of Fame Speech

“In doing my research, both with myself and just with the world, I couldn't say if I was bisexual, because I had to really see what that was, especially because I really have not gotten a chance to act on anything. So, I came to pansexual because — and I know that I'm completely messing up the dictionary meaning — but to me, pan means being able to be attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bi, tr*******al or non-binary. Being able to be attracted across the board. And, I think, at least for me for right now, that is the proper place. I took pan to mean that not only can I be attracted to any of these people or types physically, but I could be attracted to the person that is there.”
