The Sweet Spot is your sweetest musical biography show that airs Tuesday’s on WBAI 99.5 FM and wb MUSIC IS LOVE!!!

The Sweet Spot is a melodic biography, a song filled intimate journey through the lives of some of the most passionate, talented and funky folks in the biz with the music that shaped and influenced their life. The show joined the WBAI musical Chairs line up August 2015 and has featured such luminaries as Verdine White, Roy Ayers, Patrick Adams, Femi Kuti and Breakbeat Lou.

Saturday, January 13th
10am-12pm Service in Harlem at Mother Zion AME 140 W 137th New York, NY
1pm-1:30pm Burial to follow church service at Woodlawn Cemetery 4199 Webster Ave Bronx, NY
2pm-5pm Reception at reception hall of Mother Zion AME 140 W 137th New York, NY

The reception hall will be open directly following the service at 12pm. If anyone would like to remain in the reception hall while the burial is taking place, they are welcome to do so.

If you would like to offer a gift of flowers, please have them sent to Mother Zion AME.

And what's up with all the watermelons?? Following the 1967 war, Israel seized control of the West Bank, Gaza Strip and annexed East Jerusalem. The Israeli government then made public displays of the Palestinian flag a criminal offense.

In 1980 Israeli officials shut down an exhibition at the 79 Gallery in Ramallah featuring work by the Palestinian artist Sliman Mansour and others, including Nabil Anani and Issam Badrl. Mansour said “They told us that painting the Palestinian flag was forbidden, but also the colors were forbidden. So Issam said, ‘What if I were to make a flower of red, green, black and white?’, to which the officer replied angrily, ‘It will be confiscated. Even if you paint a watermelon, it will be confiscated!" Since then the watermelon has become a globally recognised symbol of Palestinian resistance.

Our amazing brother needs help and I can’t believe I only just found out. Funmi opened my ears and heart to a lot of incredible music and he is a generous, wonderful friend to so, so many including myself. Truly a magical being. He brings so much care and love to his DJ sets and is a real champion for music that is transformative and healing. Now he needs some grace and space to heal.
Let’s push this to the goal so he can focus on getting better.

So sad to have missed our gala this year and celebrating another year of joy, power and possibility with some of the most talented, creative, wacky, loving people to work with and amazing alum 😢

I’m so proud of our DJ class grads though who apparently let the dancefloor have it! Rest assured some classics were played!

I’m at home resting hoping to be fully operational by next week.
This flick is a throwback to 2018, a frozen moment in time. I feel like “the panny” aged me 100 years sometimes and I am looking FORWARD to regaining my energy and having a hot old lady summer! 🥴 which of course is totally different now but “catch me OUTSIDE!!!

Our young crew did an INCREDIBLE job and even though the world of fashion is def a material one, the convo was of a spiritual nature. Grateful to all the amazing elders who share their knowledge with our young people.
