Sammy Rae & The Friends, "Good Time Tavern"
Anyone who has seen the charming, charismatic Sammy Rae & The Friends Sammy Rae Music in concert understands why FUV was so taken with buoyant band after their recent FUV Live session in September. So by happy providence of scheduling, FUV grabbed a chance to have the Brooklyn-based collective take over the Sheen Center for a rousing Marquee Members show. The seven-piece group released their official debut album, 'Something For Everybody,' via Nettwerk Music Group in September — which includes their song "Good Time Tavern." See more videos of that Sheen Center concert now at WFUV.org. The group's upcoming "gigs and hangs" tour schedule includes Hartford's The Capitol Groove on 6/29. Laura Marling interview
We were very happy to welcome Laura Marling back to Studio A last month, just before her Bowery Ballroom residency, for a new FUV Live session, hosted by Kara Manning. Laura's new album, 'Patterns in Repeat,' is one of the most gorgeous releases of 2024 and it's a thoughtful exploration of new parenthood, family legacy, and reflections on the cyclical nature of life. In this session, Laura played three songs from the new album — and also spoke frankly about her own future ... and her vacillating feelings about making music — and the music industry and its expectations. Watch videos/listen to the session on demand at WFUV.org and via the "FUV Live Sessions" podcast at Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Podcasts. More:

Laura Marling, "Patterns"
Thanks to member support, we can bring you FUV Live sessions — and this week's is with a longtime friend of this radio station, British singer and songwriter Laura Marling. Her remarkable eighth album, 'Patterns in Repeat,' captures another chapter of experience in her life, that of being a new parent, examining what binds her family and friends with the past and present. In a new FUV Live session, hosted by Kara Manning, Laura discusses the intimate writing and home recording of the album — as her newborn daughter napped nearby. Marling also played a solo set of three songs from the record, including "Patterns." Watch videos and listen on demand at WFUV.org (where you can also make a contribution to our December drive) or via the "FUV Live Sessions" podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Podcasts.
