Here at Motherwolf, we have had a pretty active year so far… in the last week, we have been proud to release a debut album by and a debut ep by , a single by , several singles by and more music from flagship artist … we couldn’t be more pleased with the results so far. Motherwolf is a label about artist development and discovery. Not looking at numbers to determine their worth, but building their numbers to increase their discovery with hope of getting them to the point where they want to continue releasing with us, going off on their own or getting picked up to the majors. I found working at a gas station, went with my gut, paired him with and here we are with the release of his debut EP , came from NJ, a collective of creative artists from producing their own music, curating their own music videos and promoting their own shows. Their debut LP came out yesterday. coming off of features with and indie releases, brought to us by winning producer and mixer (most recent ) , Tate228 brings back the Boom Bap and true hip hop displayed on his first single with us and a full album on deck, Motherwolf’s secret weapon. Singer, songwriter, producer, mixer. Her self produced singles have been top shelf and her producing and Mixing on K.Williams EP are stellar. Her next single comes out on June 3rd. Lastly, flagship artist is where it a started, with several releases over the last couple years, we put out EDM Pop single which became a playlist favorite and we look forward to our next single to pop off. That’s who we are. That’s what we do. If you want to join the party… holler at us. It’s quality and careers vs numbers. We build it, they will come. As long as it takes.

While the news of Neil Young pulling his music from Spotify is getting attention for supporting Joe Rogan and misinformation spreading, the real issue should still be DSP and rates artists get paid. Sadly, this reality has no momentum to make a dent based on major labels having ownership and are making billions and for artists needing these platforms to find and have an audience at all. This new form of distribution is toothpaste that is out of the tube and nothing that can be done. The only options are looking at which service pays best and perhaps switching to that service to support a better (not fair) payment to artists. Labels still win because each dollar earned only pays the % negotiated in the artist recording contract. So $1 earned, most likely pays .14 cents to an artist (if they are recouped)… I hate to be pessimistic, but consumers will most likely not switch because they like what they like and the two worst paying DSP’s are the most successful… I have nothing cleaver or witty to say about this one.
