NEW YORK (WABC) -- The showers & thunderstorms are expected to linger into Monday along with the threat of flash flooding.

Hours of heavy showers & thunderstorms produced significant flash flooding in Hudson Valley & parts of New Jersey on Sunday. Localized rain amounts of 4" to 6" fell in the Lower Hudson

Valley.

A flood warning remains in effect in Orange & Rockland counties in New York & Bergen, Passaic, Hunterdon, & Somerset counties in New Jersey into Monday morning.

A flood watch has been issued for the entire Tri-State area until 6:00 a.m. on Monday.

The Office of Emergency Management warned heavy rain in New York City into Monday morning may cause rapid, life-threatening flooding to basements. Residents were urged to prepare to move to higher ground if needed.

Expect an evening thunderstorm, mainly west of the city, followed by a humid night. Tomorrow will be humid with a couple of showers & heavy thunderstorms, especially late. The heaviest downpours may wait until early tomorrow night, with potential for flash flooding.

We haven't hit 90 degrees since June 2nd in Central Park NYC, but we'll make a run at it tomorrow. Humidity is here to stay with maybe a spotty storm north & west tomorrow & Friday, but more likely across the rest of the area over the weekend, especially Sunday.
